Jalen Brunson takes a MASSIVE paycut for the good of Villanova
    I mean the Knicks

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">In a largely unprecedented financial concession to give roster flexibility to a contender, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has agreed on a four-year, $156.5 million extension, his agent Sam Rose of CAA tells ESPN --- $113M less guaranteed than he’s eligible to receive in one… <a href="https://t.co/DDJvz7TUlr">pic.twitter.com/DDJvz7TUlr</a></p>&mdash; Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) <a href="https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1811867780884627697?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >July 12, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Respect, he wants to win a ring and better odds to do it when you're younger

It's like betting on his team.

Prob would earn more money in the long run with a title.

Doubtful he earns more, he'd just rather have a title at this point. He's betting on legacy.

That is a lot of money to give up... You would think there's some back-channel shenanigans going on though with his agent and the Knicks' GM being father and son and also the close ties to Brunson's dad on the coaching staff. Interesting to see if the NBA cracks down on it or lets it go

This makes more sense. They could exercise a loophole and reroute the money somehow. Like you said, it's beyond "charitable" to leave that much loot on the table. It's actually raises an eyebrow.

Brunson's daddy Rick was part of that '99 Knicks team that lost to the Pacers 25 years ago.

Maybe the next generation of Brunson's will beat Indiana.

Or maybe they will lose again with the closeted fagit on the other side taunting Spike Lee.
