    Mets offense is pathetic
Max Fried no hit the Mets the other day for seven innings.
Nola has a two-hit shutout heading into the ninth right now.

Mets are hitting .235 as a team to date, struggle to score runs, has not much team speed.
For a team that features a middle of the order of Marte, Lindor, Alfonso, and JD Martinez, their power metrics as a team is barely pedestrian, 20th in the MLB.

Speaking of Nola and the Phils, they are as of right now clearly the best team in the NL.
IMO better than the Braves and LAD.

The New York Metropolitans truly are a disgrace.

I just watched them (off and on) lose both ends of a day/night double dip to the Dodgers at home.
Yeah, yeah, I realize it's the Dodgers, but the way they lost the first game was pathetic.
Mets got their pitcher Tyler Megill two early runs off of Tyler Glasnow, and outdueled Glasnow pitch for pitch going seven full shutout innings allowing three scratch hits.

The kid was poetry in motion I tell you what.
Fast forward, top eighth Megill's yanked after 96 pitches.
Dodgers squeezes a bunt run in the eight, tied it up 2-2 in the ninth, and baby you can guess the rest.

New York laid the f*ck down from the eighth inning on.

I didn't have time to post it or I would have, I said to myself "Hammer LAD in the nightcap, this team has no soul"
Long story short, Mets didn't even show up in the second game, Gavin Stone (who has a shit ton of potential by the way) made minced meat of the Mets lineup, threw seven full innings himself, gave up three hits, walked none, striking out seven.

19 innings of baseball, and all they could muster up in two total runs on seven total hits.

Glasnow is a nice starter and all, Stone is a legit up and comer, but they're hardly Drysdale and Koufax redux for the love of God.

New York City is the biggest market in the universe, this isn't Kansas City or Pittsburgh.
Steve Cohen has more money than a dozen third world countries combined, and this is the best team he can field?
A 22-31 flaming dumpster fire that is 11-17 at home.
Who pays 200 plus dollars for a premium seat at Citi is what I want to know?

Dodgers are easy money if you just wait for them to lose 3 or 4 or 5 in a row.... they will win 6 of next 8 to go 8-2 following that 5 game losing streak

Alonso is a FA at the end of the year.
Cohen offered Alonso a 7yr 258 mil contract last year, which was more than fair when you consider Freddie Freeman's LAD deal was 6 yrs. 162 mil.

If Alonso signed that deal it would have put him right up there with Olsen and Freeman as the highest paid first basemen.

Alonso is a nice slugger and all, but he isn't Freddie Freeman.

If Alonso walks, Mets get pretty much nothing in return, so it's either overpay him, (His management team thinks they can get an 8/263 million deal, to which I say, good luck with all that)

Steve Cohen is not having a good week, his franchise sucks, and now his plans for his mega resort casino on Long Island blew up on him as Senate will not introduce legislation to further that project.

Maybe the Mets learned from the moronic Angels, who let Shohei walk last year, and they'll get something for Pete.

Nasher, was just listening to sports talk in the car while running errands and the guy was saying Lopez has a sick kid with some auto immune disease so he should be cut some slack for his outburst. I was thinking everyone has issues and problems but it doesn't give you an excuse to act like an ingrate. It all fell apart quickly. As a Met fan I can't understand how people aren't getting fired. For example, pitching coach should be gone. Anyone we get they end up being worse than where they came from and pitchers we trade always end up being better after they are shipped somewhere else. But ya, I look at that lineup and can't understand how we don't score 7 runs a game.

I love a good meltdown. The manager that crawled to the mound and threw the rosin bag like a hand grenade was the absolute best.

I'm not heartless, but I absolutely agree with you there.

Cowherd's guest today was Adam Wainwright.
(Who I am willing to bet beau coup money that Wain-O is not our pal Unde's all-time favorite pitcher).

I've always been very impressed with his pitching IQ, and I pay attention to what he has to say.
The two of them pretty much line up with Jake and I are saying, which pretty much is that while coming in ice cold out of the bullpen after sitting for two hours and to be called on to throw only 20 pitches or so is one of the most difficult things to do in all of the team sports, and how the relievers job is highly volatile and all that you still have to be a professional about it.

The biggest takeaway from that conversation was that Wainwright said that he's positive there are other situations going on behind closed doors.

I see the Braves just outrighted Joey Wendel who in turn said "f*ck that, I'm filing for FA"
You can always resign Joey again.

I'm actually standing right behind Wendle on this one.
Braves brought him up three days ago to help out with the Acuna Jr. loss, then cut him earlier stating we need outfield help.

Yeah, they do, I like Kelenic but he's a strictly a left-handed stick that's an RHP assassin but sits vs. LH starters.
Wendle was like "Why bother bringing me up then in the first place"

The Braves are a trainwreck, first they lose their ace and top three starter in the league Strider.
Then lose MVP Acuna Jr. on a non-contact freak accident.
Now they're scrambling as what to do with their active roster, and that's all on Atlanta's front office, from the team scouts all the way up to ownership, you can't put this hot fuss on the coaches and players.
Max Fried must handle the staff ace role, and Ozuna has to pick up Acuna's loss, which can't be done by the way.
What the Braves should do is reach out to Tampa, find out what it would take to pry Randy Arozarena.
Randy has mad skills who's sucking ass this year, and Tampa's so far buried this season, there's no way in hell Tampa's going to run down Baltimore, and New York.

But what do I know, I'm just your everyday, garden variety IT geek.

Holy Mother of God, what did they put in Lindor's Wheaties this morning?
He just got another hit, four for four now with a bomb he hit in the third.
Lindor's hitting tonight as if it's personal, the dude is raking tonight.

Padres bullpen almost blew a 11-3 lead in the 9th...ended up winning 11-8 but the tying run got to the plate and he flew out to the warning track to end the game.

                                        I was watching that game.
Just when I thought my boys were on their way to a magic carpet ride of a season, BOOM, nine in the eighth inning the BP coughs up.
I can't stay mad at Schriber, he was spot on the first eight weeks of the season as setup guy, just the past week though he's choked two games.

Good to see Tatis start to come around, I drafted him 3rd round, 32nd overall.

I had the sixth overall pick in Round One.
Guess who fell in my lap?

                                        *Spoiler Alert*
                                        In his last ten games he's 18 for 45 (.400) 4 HR 17 RBI 9 Runs scored.
His slash line for those ten games is .400/.467/.711 for an OPS of 1.578

If I had any say in it, he's your AL MVP.

Padres bullpen almost blew a 11-3 lead in the 9th...ended up winning 11-8 but the tying run got to the plate and he flew out to the warning track to end the game.
Well it is just nice to see the lineup start to do damage like I thought they would. I mean I almost canceled my mlb.tv because I couldn't watch this 1 run horseshit games with leaving 13 people in scoring position anymore. I get players are going to slump but to watch Lindor, Alonso, JD Martinez, and McNeil swing at the stupidest pitches in key situations in the game was getting to me. I got to the point on that losing streak if the other team had an inning early in the game that they scored 2 or 3 runs I just shut the game off.

Wow, the others in your league must be clueless if he didn't get drafted until the 32nd pick...Can I get in next year??

That reliever Kolek is a dumpster fire and almost blew the game. He was a rule 5 addition that they're attempting to keep on the roster all season, I don't see him lasting the remainder of the year.

Best Ball format, I can tell you why Tatis slipped to the third round.

20 rounds, and like I mentioned Best Ball format.
No relievers, no saves, holds, no relievers.
Your best 3 SP scores count, your best 3 IF count, and your best 3 OF count.

I have the sixth overall pick, and I hate picking from the middle of every round. I'd rather have 11 or 12 than 6 or 7.
Anyway, the draft was extremely top heavy with outfielders.

Acuna Jr. Judge, Soto, Mookie, and Ohtani all had OF designations, and went 1-5.
I'm on the clock, I would have loved any one of those five, they're OTB.

I love Tatis too, but not sixth overall.
I have IMO, just two logical choices here.
Just because there was mad rush for the elite outfielders, I don't have to panic and overdraft an OF.

Witt Jr. and Freeman, and I thought about it analytically, Witt Jr. can do everything Freeman can do, hit for power, hit for average, everything.
SB and RS are just as vital as HR and RBI, Witt Jr. will pretty much guarantee you 40 steals, Freeman, maybe 15.

This wasn't a homer selection, the stolen bases and runs scored advantage was the decision maker.
2nd round, 19th overall, I had my eye on three outfielders, they went before I was up, so I went speed with pop again (Semien)

This is why Tatis fell to me in the third round.
I created an infielder panic, there were like eight owners scrambling for infielders, and the other few went SP in the third round too.
Oh look, there's Tatis waiting for me.

Just ask me Jaker, I'll tell you, I have mad fantasy baseball skills.

I went to the Mets vs DBacks game last night. 10-9 final ended up being a great game to go to.

Picked up seats directly behind home plate 10 rows back for $110 a piece. Those tickets would be like $650+ at Yankee stadium. At least I get to see my favorite team (Dbacks) for cheap because the Mets suck and everyone in NY is going to Yankee games instead. It's $100 a ticket to sit in the outfield nosebleeds or bleachers at Yankee Stadium.
