We don't even bat an eye on the west coast with a small murmur...stop for a second or two and then continue whatever we were doing.

If I'm in my family room, I always look up at the ceiling fan and towards kitchen where there's a 5 gallon water jug...I check to see if the fan or water in the jug are shaking then go about my business.

      I hear you.
We just don't get them here.
We get hurricanes, we get nor'easters, we get blizzards, but earthquakes, the last two here were 1992, and before that 1977.

That's a tease. We in California get 4.8's all the time. People are freaking out and making a big deal of this. I'm laughing at it.

6.0 or larger gets scary, anything in the 4's is a joke.

I thought it was a heavy truck passing by so I can't mark a earthquake off my bucket list. I guess it is about as big as they get for the East Coast, but this wasn't even noticeable, and that is coming from a dude who lives in the area. How big do these things get before they start shaking things around a bit? 4.8 seems like a baby quake. But I think one of the largest is like a 9. So how big does it get to shake stuff around and make you look drunk on camera? Like a 6 or maybe 6.5?

This was nothing and it didn't last but a few seconds.

You'll know when it is a big one, pictures and things go flying off the walls, dishes on the shelves in your kitchen will fly out and smash on the kitchen floor, lamps and TV's will move and or fall over, furniture moves around, etc. It lasts for almost a minute also with immediate after shocks. Everything is crashing around you. Can barely walk or run. All car alarms are going off on the street. You hear booms and things crashing outside also. Electrical goes off. Smell of gas, Etc. Some apartment buildings collapsed or cracked up as well.

That was the Northridge Earthquake I experienced and that was a solid 6.7 magnitude. That was no joke as I was on the fault line. It didn't help that it happened in the very early morning as everything went pitch dark and I couldn't see a damn thing. I just laid in my queen bed and road it out. That one scared me I can't lie.

I heard it looking back, but I thought it sounded more like a thunderclap.
                Earthquake never crossed my mind.

Where was this one at? I assume the farther away from the quake the less the affects are, so if it was in Macon Ga, I probably didn't feel much.

A FULL Eclipse I'd like to see one day. Unfortunately out in Cali we only get 50% coverage of the sun this go around.

Darkness in the daytime for a few minutes with the sun completely blocked is kinda cool in theory!

Throw in a strong earthquake with a full eclipse at the same time would be totally awesome!

That one was in Virginia. Remember it damaged the Washington momentum.

So when my cat comes up, meows at me in a weird way, then sits down and starts to lick his ass. Is he telling me to kiss my ass goodbye there is an 10.4 mega quake about to ruin my day?

It's gotta cough up a fur ball for it to be a strong earthquake. Just sitting down and licking it's ass is just a mild tremor warning.

                                              Are you in JC?
I was born right next to the border line where JC meets Bayonne.
My dad was the chief of engineering at the Bayonne Ocean Terminal Military Base where he was stationed for the whole thirty-year career nut.

So today, I'm looking for my cat to give me the signal of a solar eclipse. Maybe he'll be walking around with the solar glasses on or something. Perhaps actually being active instead of the usual 20 hours a sleep a day he seems to need.
