I really don't understand Shanahan's handling of the last couple minutes of the first half.
Letting all that time bleed off the clock and then burning a timeout when you only had 2 yards to pick up. Had they snapped that in a reasonable amount of time, they're looking at a minute on the clock with all 3 timeouts in their pocket.
They could've played for a touchdown or at least a closer field goal. Everything was on the table.
Shanahan playing scared now all of a sudden? Pretty lame.

they didn't even try to get more yards on that 3rd and 1 with a timeout to go... GB would easily give up some yards underneath and it would've been a closer FG but that loser Purdy just throws it away
Purdy is the weak link. Dumb PI by SF and falling down... giving up 2 pt conversions with someone wide open
SF is in big time trouble down 17-21... they got their turnover and couldn't tie it up at home
weak

Yeah and to think Purdy was the frontrunner for MVP at one point, laughable.
CMC and Deebo are what make the offense hum. Purdy has an embarrassment of riches around him.
But Shanny's butthole puckering up before the half was completely out of character and did nothing but sabotage the Niners. No chance he plays it that safe in the regular season.

I hate his short arms
Niners lucky that the GB kicker is shaky and that A.Jones didn't break off that run for a house call...
SF is vulnerable v Det... TB... I don't really buy into that yet. Hope Det wins tomorrow.

I doubt Frisco looks this shaky next week. My feeling is that Deebo was supposed to be a big part of the gameplan tonight to expose G.B.'s sorry backers in coverage and when he left the game early S.F. clearly wasn't prepared for it.

Its a catch-22. They also don't want to leave GB time on the clock to score if they don't pick up 1st downs. GB had all 3 TO or at least 2.

maybe he shouldn't be returning kickoffs
someone send that memo to SF HC if he actually wants to compete for a SB again

I wouldn't even call that a catch 22 though. There's always potential for a downside to any decision. The odds favored Frisco any way you slice it. You're at home at you can't pick up two yards? I mean even if you get one yard you at least either force Green Bay to use a timeout (which they might not even do given the down and distance) or you put yourself in a situation to go for it. Remember, they were at about the plus 40 if I remember correctly, we're not talking some major roll of the dice.
Worst case scenario, you don't pick it up on 3rd, you punt it back to Green Bay and you pin them deep, maybe they get into scoring range, maybe they don't, but you didn't get to be the number one seed by playing with your tail tucked. It showed a complete lack of faith in both the offense and the defense in my opinion.
Like I said, if this was a regular season game, no chance Shanny curls up the fetal like that, he galaxy brain'd himself out of points there... fitting that the unnecessarily long attempt got blocked. Would've been poetic had the Pack returned it for a touchdown.
Oh well. I would have picked SF blowout and Balty to be close but go figure. SF got kinda exposed.

He is ultra conservative in the playoffs. Look at his history with SF. Its a totally different approach in the playoffs.

They went 10 yds in 2 mins. Burned 3 timeouts and settled for a 40 yd fg

But the two teams that could have beaten them, Cowboys and Packers, are out now so they have the easiest path to the Superbowl they could be 10-14 points favorite on next game depending on who wins today.

The Lions run defense is one of the best and in the playoffs if you can’t run your defense is going to get exhausted by lacking time of possession, Purdy lacks the arm and confidence to exploit lions over the top. People haven’t awaken to the Lions and that is a good thing.
Detroit will send SF fishing
