    Monster NCAA Hoops Game Tonight
    #16 Creighton at #1 Connecticut.

I like the sound of that, "Top Ranked UConn."
Even though Connecticut has won five national championships since 1999, this is the first time ever the Huskies have been ranked #1 in both polls during the regular season.

I live for these Big East games, I'm a Big East homer, and this league is once again stacked.
Seems like the Big East is always stacked as any one of the top six teams in the league can knock off any of the other five top teams on any given night, either at home or away.

The opener is UConn -5.5, which is my opinion is razor sharp, not a fact, that's just my opinion.
I say razor sharp because I like to play a game with myself before looking at the opener.
The game being "What would I set the line at if I was the line maker".
    I said to myself "5.5".
And as sure as shit, the opener was 5.5.

I can't bet this game, well I can, but choose not to.
There's no edge that I can see here giving a nationally ranked team like Creighton five and a half, in a major game of the year type Big East contest.

This is what UConn has going on for them tonight though, the game is at Gampel Pavilion which is the on-campus gym at the University which holds 'only' 10,000 fans with 9900 of them being Husky homers and they sit virtually right on top of the court screaming at the opposition.

Usually I downplay homecourt advantages, some gyms they're a colossal asset, this being one of them.
I'm kind of surprised this game is scheduled at Gampel, usually games this huge are scheduled at XL Center in Hartford which holds almost twice as many fans.

This is what UConn has going against them, Creighton is also loaded with talent, and this isn't a look away game for them, and they are well coached, McDermott is as good as they come.

Then there's the 'top five' trend.
Just last week alone every team ranked fifth in the nation lost with the exception of UConn.
Lately the trend seems to be it's one thing to reach the top, it's another thing to stay there.

I can't bet this one, know this, I'll be tuned in, I can't get a ticket for openers, and it's like eight degrees outside with the wind chill factor.

There are two types of sports bettors, those who bet with their heart (usually not a good idea)
And those who bet with their brains and wallets.

My heart wants the Huskies to win by twenty, by wallet and brain think this game will not be easy.
    Pass.

I hope that as a UCONN 'homer' your Huskies get a huge "W".

      Thanks,
I'm laying off, so if the Huskies win by a deuce on a Newton jumper or Karavan put back at the buzzer I'll be happy.
Even with a loss UConn will not get punished by losing to Creighton, at worst they'll drop to fourth or fifth ranked and will still be in line for a top seed or two seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Some games are better watched as a fan and not as a bettor.
      This being one of them.

This isn't your first rodeo Unde, you know I'm the biggest Husky homer going.

Heels should croak Louisville tonight by the way, that's a 9pm start, I'd tune in to that one since my game is at 7pm. thing is my content provider doesn't offer the ACC Network for reasons unknown to me because I can get just about every other sports network known to man.

Yes sir I am aware of your fanhood as you with me and the Heels, it will be a old fashion beat down I imagine with the way UNC has bought into defense this past month. It has been impressive to say the least with route after route. Hell they are in the mist of playing several mid to bottom feeders in the ACC. Should have a very good chance to be 10-0 going into the Duke game.

Ya, I don't get how they do the networking. My best friend is a huge Gator fan and I try to watch all those games as well but they have been playing on SEC network a ton. I get all the other major conference networks but not SEC. Makes zero sense. I have to log into Hulu live tv to get it but it is the only channel on DirectTV I don't get.

Good luck to your boys, I will be watching that as well.

Semi accurate, I think the Huskies will have their hands full tonight.
Taking off my blue UConn Husky hoodie and looking at this game objectively, this is a hard game to bet either way.

Suffocating defense will do that to the best of them.
Just talking defense, Connecticut played flawlessly for thirty-four out of forty minutes.
                    And that's not being hyperbolic.

It's next to impossible to repeat in NCAA hoops, Billy Donovan and the Gators were the last to do it two decades ago.
That's what's great about college hoops and the sixty-four-team field plus the play ins.
You're not getting Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU. and Clemson every other year.
I think NCAA football finally gets that.

                    Can UConn repeat?
                    Absolutely.

                    Will UConn repeat?
Maybe, maybe not, you can get at least +1000 or better right now, that is tempting.
