Of all the teams in this week's Top 20 NCAA rankings...
Half (10 out 20) are from two leagues.
    Big 12 and Big East.

Big 12 is stacked, and I was saying to Pete the other day, the Big East is so brutal this season.
If you expanded it out to the Top 25 and included Providence and TCU, that makes 12 of 25 teams.

A little too top heavy for my liking, but it's OK, I'm a Big East homer.

Alabama, which has been a holy terror as of late iate is your new top ranked team.
Not for nothing UConn waxed Alabama earlier this season.
    (Just saying)

Houston, second ranked, and St. Mary's are the only two from so called non Power Five conferences.

    So...
Who's the Cinderella story of the upcoming big tourney?
    Who's this year's St. Peter's?

I have my eye on Nevada myself.

I don't get much of a chance to watch much basketball outside of watching the BIG Ten which is just full of average teams that will make the tournament. Outside of Indiana and Purdue I don't see any other team being a threat to make it to the final four from this conference even in a down year overall for this year's college basketball season.

I haven't watched the PAC 12 or Gonzaga or St Marys since their games are usually on so late so I don't know what to expect from those two teams or UCLA or Arizona or a handful of the other teams that might make it to the tournament like Utah, Arizona St, USC, or Oregon.

The Big 12 looks to be the clearly the best conference with no team in their league being bad and maybe up to 6 teams capable of winning it all out of their league.

The ACC looks to be pretty bad with Miami being the current team playing the best basketball.

Houston and Alabama are the two big favorites and I'm not sure what to expect for a Cinderella team this year. Seems like this year would be a good year with how down things are but I never get a chance to watch this teams from weaker conferences. Maybe tune into conference tournament action to see if any team might give you the look like they can be that team.

There are some dangerous true Cinderellas this year.

I mean ranking 60's or higher. Teams like Kent St, Santa Barbara, Oral Roberts...

On Monday I checked out the rest of the regular season schedule for all the major conferences.
There are five games left in league play then the Conference tournaments start leading in the big tournament.

Upon looking on the Big East schedule I made a mental note to try to watch last nights game between Creighton and Providence, I had a feeling that was going to be a good one.

            Can you say insta-classic?

The Providence backers were raucous, the next time somebody says home court advantage is overrated, just point to last nights game.

94-86 double overtime Providence win, and without a doubt PC is the most underrated team in the Big East, 24th ranked in the nation and sixth ranked in the Big East tells you just how brutal that league is.

PC can easily win the Big East tournament, and so can the five other teams ahead of them.

UConn has the best defense in the Big East, looks like Hawkins has found his groove again, I like our chances.
Xavier is the team to beat I think, more so than Marquette, Creighton doesn't scare me much, Providence is my sleeper, if a nationally ranked team can be a sleeper?

Gun to head, and the conditions were I can't pick UConn, Xavier would be my choice.

Oh for sure, and I think that top rank is deserved.
My point is on any given night the Big East or the Big 12, the top half anyway from each conference can knock of any one.

'Bama and Tennessee tonight, oh yeah, I'm going to watch that one.
Problem is Xavier plays Marquette too, and both those games tip at 7pm.

Holy crap, you don't get two games like this, at the same time on the same night.

If one isn't loving NCAA hoops this season, one needs to find a new sport to follow.
