MLB's joint competition committee has voted to keep the rule that places a runner at second base at the start of extra innings, and a separate set of rules that puts parameters on when position players can pitch, a source told ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Robot umpires calling balls and strikes. Like electronic line calls in tennis, that's a very good idea

100% agree. If you are going to have a ghost runner in xtras to shorten the chance of 18 inning games, at least make them start on first Vs second so there is still some strategy involved. Such a mockery of the game to play by intramural softball league rules in xtras.

Teams don't have bullpens that can use for EI. Most pitchers have Tommy John surgery in their early twenties because of overuse of the arms.

I like the rule today in regards to position players pitching. I can't stand the garbage stats these hitters get.
