#37You put a 38 year old Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant on this current Laker team today and they both have this team playing above .500 ball at this point.

#38Lebron James grew up in a single family home with his mother.
when a person with immeasurable talents lacks a stable male in their lives to model and feed the male ego, they must develop several traits of narcissisism in order to believe in themselves and their abilities.
kareem Abdul Jabaar, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neil, pretty good examples of how having a significant male role model throughout the early phases of life can keep you grounded and humble even in success.
all this to say, this type of narcissism was required by James to be where he is now, he shouldn’t be trashed for it, try understanding more.
Narrow explanation for poor behavioral choices.Comment -

#43Lebron should have never left the Cleveland Cavs and jerked those loyal fans around. They were burning his jersey!
Once he bailed that ship he became a clown show IMO. Then he spray painted racial shit on his garage door in Brentwood, Ca. and claimed it was a racial attack. I was laughing at that at the time. Everyone knew it was BS and was self inflicted. I know because I live a couple miles from his home. There was no racial crap going on in Brentwood near his home ever.Comment -

So many more shots and FT's and that extra point from 3's...
there is no way to compare.
I give Lebron his props as an all time player among the greats but there is no way to compare eras in modern sports.
Not a single sport has not changed significantly.Comment -

#51moncrief looks 31 years old in that photo.....
reminds me of one of da brothers I grew up with, back in the seventh grade, who, upon first showering with the rest of the seventh graders in athletics, went home to his dad and asked him, "Dad, I noticed I was much more endowed than my classmates. Is that because I'm black?"
to which his father said, "It's because you're seventeen, you dumb mother fukker!!!"Comment -

#53Kareem is a weirdo. He thinks he's the greatest ever, guy thinks he was better than jordan. Big deal, he was 7'2 and could score over anyone. He's no where near the player Jordan was. Ppl praise him for like 3 college championships, he was going against guys that were like 6'7 centers. Jordan was better in every aspect of the game, and the same can be said for Kobe. Kobe is a much better Laker than Kareem. The eye test says it all. Same reason while I'll never say Shaq is top 10 ever. You can't be in that dicussion if all you know how to do is score 5 feet away from the basket.
Kareem has no versatility to his game. Zero. He scored because he was the biggest guy in the league. Meanwhile guys like Jordan and Kobe have to fight for every basket.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#54And Lebron is better than Kareem too. I don't need to see any statistics. My eyes can tell me the truth, and it's very clear. Wilt Russell Kareem Shaq all those big men aren't even all that. They're all time greats but none of them are anywhere near the discussion of GOAT. Hakeem might even be better than all of them.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#5819th, on basketball analysis, I start with a premise that it was designed to be a big man's game.
Offensively, you want to take a shot that gives you the best chance of success. Defensively, it's the opposite, minimize your opponent's chance of success.
As such, free throws are a pretty big penalty. The best defender will minimize Fouls Committed.
This is all before two key rule changes:
1) The 3-pt line, and
2) The Shot Clock.
I'd argue that the SHOT CLOCK was a necessary rule change. Is holding out the ball really supposed to be part of the game? In my opinion, No.
The 3-point line is a bigger leap of faith. ABA started it as a gimmick. I'd argue that it changes all the angles. I don't really see the point of rewarding an extra point for a longer shot. Changed the whole approach to the game.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#59If you agree with anything I say above, then the two best players from the Last 60 years (under the original rules) were:
1) A young Wilt Chamberlain
2) Lew Alcindor...becomes Kareem
I think Kareem was easily a better professional. In my mind, I always viewed Kareem/Lew as the best ever. Only when you create a sub-category of Non-center can a reasonable mind think about someone else.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

No argument here...
Lew/Kareem was my next-door neighbor when I was living in Milwaukee.
Many on here find him strange/odd and hold his height against him.
I found him to be gifted, intelligent and considerate.
He's my NBA GOAT followed by Chamberlain and Jordan.
Everyone has an opinion.
Remember a young Wilton was a Globetrotter.
