Question About The Situation
Because he was without Oxygen and breathing for that long, despite having a heart beat, does that mean he would be “brain dead” even if he lives and be bed bound? Anyone know medically?

Prayers are out sucks to see and hear. The only bright spot is how everyone is coming together as humans

That is possible. We don't know how long though. Every second is critical. Seems like first responders did an incredible job.

He's probably brain damaged if not brain dead.

Thats probably why there is no official announcement from the hospital. They are going to be very careful with how its communicated to the public. I guarantee his family knows the real status

I think this is what's happening. If so, they won't really know anything until they end this. If it really took 9 minutes to resuscitate him, unfortunately the prognosis would likely not be good.

wow so that is under 90 degrees farenheit. very interesting just to know this is something that is done.

i am going to assume the family knows a lot more than is in the news.

his original gofundme for a toy drive for his mom's daycare has now received over $4.170 million in donations. that is really special to see.

**UPDATE: This fundraiser was initially established to support a toy drive… Damar Hamlin needs your support for The Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive

The CPR is more or less to motivate the heart to start beating again isn't it? That does not really get much oxygen to the brain (maybe, a little that was in the lungs)? I do not have it recorded but the ambulance got out their pretty fast and must have immediately went to the paddles.

A key question is how long was his heart stopped before they got the paddles on him? he was dead and they brought him back to life.

Actually not really.

CPR compressions will cause blood to flow through the body, hopefully getting oxygenated blood to the brain and other organs. This is an important aspect of CPR that shouldn't be overlooked. It replaces the beating heart, temporarily.

You can keep the blood pumping with CPR until you can get equipment, etc. for further treatment.
