#30now i do super low weight for many reps. 135lbs for reps of 40. usually 3 or 4 sets. i don't go heavy at all. i do pushups till failure morning and night now which has helped keep size.
back in the day (i sound like al bundy) i was doing 315 for 4 sets of 15. i was not a huge bench fan. i got scared of the weight coming down and not being able to push it up. always happened whenever i did more than 225.Comment -

#31Yes, older guys need to realize you need to save your joints. Also, the practicality of moving, or needing to move, more than 225 for any reason in life is nil. High reps can be good, but intensity is still needed to maintain. Polka is bigger than me though. The key to weight training is investing a decade of doing it in your 20s and 30s in earnest, then you just maintain and are in much better shape than anyone around you, when you have far more loot and savvy in your late 30s to 40s, thus winning the game. Oh yeah, diet becomes as important or moreso, to be honest, as you approach or are over 40 (not that it always wasn't), but you need to just eat only 1 or 2 meals a day. The 3 meals is nonsense. Enjoy yourself but the best diet to try to eat more frequently is fish and greensComment -
