*Three teams (1979 Rams, 1982 Dolphins, 2001 Rams) came close to breaking the curse, making it to the Super Bowl. But all three lost. The 2001 Rams argueably came the closest - losing to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI to Adam Vinatieri's last-second game-winning field goal.

*Counting 1976-2008, the Curse has had 186 victims, including 49 playoff teams, 3 Super Bowl losers, 7 conference championship game losers,

one #1 playoff seed. Note that the number does not equal Tampa Bay's total franchise victories because many of the victims were beaten by Tampa Bay twice in the same season.

WE now have 4 teams who lost to TB that got to the Bowl and still lost last years phony Falcons

    adding the 2013 -2014 2015 and 2016 results here

Another interesting trends that can determine a team that will less likely to win the Super Bowl:

      1. NFL player that wins regular season MVP will less likely win the Super Bowl. Kurt Warner's Rams was the last MVP to win Super Bowl.

      2. NFL team that's #1 in passing yards or #1 in rushing yards or #1 in sacks has never won the Super Bowl. This just shows your offense is one dimensional and your defense can only sack the QB and not defend against the RB.

      3. NFL team that loses the Super Bowl will less likely win the Super Bowl the season after. Tom Brady's Patriots in 2017 was the last team to do this. Before Brady, many decades of Super Bowl losers struggling to get back to the Super Bowl.

      4. NFL team that loses 4 in a row during the regular season will less likely win the Super Bowl.

      5. Quarterback that has entered the playoffs for the 1st time will not win the Super Bowl.

Future vision is what you see with your mind not your eyes.

Good post. Of course Dallas has the ability to do it, given that D and the complements they have on O. Will they? It's hard to do. Very hard. Plus, week 1 loss vs TB? Ha, that'd be the perfect excuse for the randomness of OldBill's mantra.

            (1) above is the worst one, since the QB is by far most important in the NFL. Allen would break this IF it happens, but interestingly he has scuffled and is a little lame, so maybe that's good if you like the Bills all the way.

Cinci's got a shot but do they beat both KC and Buffalo in the playoffs? I don't see it. So the setup for (3) is spot on.

4 and 5 are likely, but not that insightful, really. They rely on fairly obvious reasoning. GB has a shot, but yes it's long at this point. Even Hurts played in the playoffs last year, so that'd be the biggest borderline young QB/first time playoffs case. Justin Herbert is the only real qualifier for this in the whole league. They probably won't make the playoffs, though.

another thing about Dallas so far no HC has won superbowls with 2 differnt teams

so thats another reason cowboys fail in PO's every year

I believe one of these 3 will be the super bowl matchup. Unless the Bills finally defeat the Chiefs in the playoffs. The Bengals proven to defeat the Chiefs 3 times in a row in 2022.

If this trend holds up. Eagles should win the super bowl especially with that defense.
But if that trend breaks, Mahomes should be the one to do it since Warner.
