BREAKING: Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor deal, sources tell ESPN. While it still needs to be ratified by both parties, that is expected to be a formality. Players can report to spring-training camps as early as tomorrow. Opening Day is expected to be April 7, as ESPN's Jesse Rogers first reported.

Regarding the first week of games the rumbling is, and what I'm getting from Ken Rosenthal is the first week of games is 'cancelled' and not going to be made up. That's just hearsay for now.

About time they ended it, do I dare say it, the MLBPA were the assholes this time.
I'm glass half full guy and I was starting to think we weren't going to get a summer.

Now instead of writing about mind numbing business minutia on a daily basis I can concentrate on real baseball matters.

Such as who is Freddie Freeman going to sign with?

two problems with moving the season is that the world series would interfere with midterm elections and that people have trips planned to ball parks already

cant they just put some of the games as doubleheaders or something? the interleague ones would be the only real problem

actually just saw that they are planning to put in some scheduled doubleheaders as makeups for the lost games

I hate that they banned the shift. If some stupid left hander can't learn to bunt to third base, he deserves to make an out.

Yep, and you know I'm on record as saying such.
A professional hitter is not a professional if he can't hit to all fields.
And I don't want someone in my lineup day in day out if they can't, unless they can put up numbers like 48 homers and 118 RBI on a consistent basis.

Playoffs are hosted by higher seed best of 3 series. That’s the new wild card round. The playin games are done at the end of the season if someone is tied. I’m glad, you don’t need that with 12 teams in the playoffs. I have to see how it’s spaced out though. Apparently, there is going to be 3 more days at the end of the season and the rest of the missing games will be doubleheaders

Next year, every team will play each other in every season. Going to cut down the divisional games. So you figure roughly 54 series per team, 16 Inter league (home/away against rival), home away intraleague that’s 36 series total. That leaves 18 series against the division. Basically cutting about 30 games out against the division and making them Interleague. I kind of like this actually.
