#2Actually I think no, they will be busier as we need now to ban together more than ever, funding will be tricky and we need to make friends with guys in Canada and europ to help us fund until other methods are available, forums will always be busy now because offshore booking is going to be more secret now and always changing and forums are where you will find all the info.
I will be here until the end, if I am the last guy posting here it is ok, I will post to myself.
SBR-John has been good to me giving me a few loans which I did pay back so have to remain loyal. I doubt though forums are going anywhere.
Majorwager and SBR are busier than ever and contine to grow.Comment -

It has never been illegal to place a bet in UK - there is a thriving bookmaking industry which was never accessable to US citizens. Ladbrokes , William Hill , and Betfair are all blue chip companies who have been around for years.
You may also be surprised how many posters on this ( and other forums ) are UK based. The industry is not about to contract here !!Last edited by Kimmy; 01-21-07, 11:31 AM.Comment -

#7I think the topic question is being asked in light of the recent industry events and how that will effect the future. It's a good question. Unfortunately, the forum was already going in the graveyard direction before that shit hit the fan.
When Compaq/jj was away for a few days and there was a chance to see the actual level of posting going on, it was startlingly dead. It was particularly remarkable considering it was supposed to be the heart of the busiest time - football season - and Beat The Prick was in full swing.
All the recent excitement in the industry has certainly livened things up on the forum. Too bad it had to be something so negative to get things going. It's hard to say how long that will sustain. My guess? In the long-term, the changes will have a negative effect on the forum.
At some point, all the freaking out and wild speculating will be done and people will settle into new patterns with respect to betting (and posting). It makes sense to me that there will be less people wanting to talk about SBR's specialty, off-shore sportsbooks. People wanting to talk about other sports topics will probably find they can get more feedback at the busier forums.
IMO the long-term viability of this forum is really up to the SBR people. It would be up to them to listen to the people and give the forum some direction. If it just drifts, then I don't see why things wouldn't continue to deteriorate.Comment -

#8Sbr has the best book ratings in the biz.
It is a shame that the posting forum isn't at that same level.
Everyone and their mother runs here to check out a books rating before depositing, or if a book stiffs and they need help from, Bill, Laker, Justin, etc.
Compared to the 2or 3 other"popular" places the amount of posting is very low.
Don't get me wrong a love the forum here but I find myself straying elsewhere because of the lack of activity.
This is just my opinion, and I hope a don't offend anyone.
I have nothing bad to say about sbr, just wish more people would post on here.
I hope the forum grows in the future. It would be a major loss to the industry and players.
SBR provides a "checks and balances" system to keep some of these offshore scammers inline.Comment -

#10We certainly have a lot of European and other International readers. Whether that transfers over to a English language forum enough to keep the place active I don't know.
SBR has never had as good of relationship with European and Asian books as Central America or Caribbean, but in the new environment that will change. John or Bill, if you need to send me to work in London, I am up for it.Comment -

#11On Line Wagering will be here Next week Next month and next year. The US customers will still be playing. Funding methods will change but the only way the US players quit playing is if the books all quit accepting US action. The forum will be the same. If the Beat The Prick contest is still going next year and its as big as advertised the Forum will be even bigger. What other forum dishes out the loot that SBR and Cris does ?Comment -

#15We will have more Euro book sponsors thats for sure. But football is king and we will strive to have the best football contest.
And while other forums are cutting back we are still hiring in Costa Rica. The “Big Show” will always go on. Those left in the game will have superior products that the players enjoy and find useful. The better question is can the SBR staff develop those type of forums, lines and other products for the players?Comment -

#16SBR will be even busier one year from now
In the future, it is going to be even more important to stay with A books. We are going to be watching many books from the B's on down either stop taking U.S. players, or go out of business completely - stiffing those with balances.
It is going to be even more important to monitor ratings, so my guess would be SBR will be even more busy one year from now.Comment -

#24All through the years there were plenty who said SBR was going bad and would become a ghost town. At the time we had two servers. Now we are over 20. The concept of creating a country club environment with a lot of info and a lot of stuff to do is alive and well and growing.Comment -
