Awards season for some reason has been a time of year I've been able to be quite profitable. GG's usually have a few big upsets and I see the same happening this year.
Golden Globes 2020 Predictions:
Best Actor In A Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy-Best Actor In A Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy
It always seems like actors who portray a real life person always has a shot here. Taron Egerton who plays Elton John is +500. It wasn't nearly as iconic as Rami Malek's performance and there's little to no buzz right now in the media about it. Eddie Murphy's return to the spotlight is a feel good story in a movie he is getting a lot of recognition for. To me it's Eddie vs Leo and I think with him also receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Critic's Choice Awards for his long successful career and how well liked he is I think the Globes give him the award here.
Eddie Murphy +100

Very tough to see anyone but Joaquin winning this. I didn't think the Joker was all that great but he was the key figure and really held the film together. Outside shot to Antonio Banderas +1000 for an upset pick but I would say Joaquin or bust here.
Joaquin Phoenix -385
Best Actor In A TV Movie/Limited Series-Best Actor In A TV Movie/Limited Series
All the talk is about Jared Harris in Chernobyl. Very highly rated show and he has been getting a lot of love from the foreign press. Sam Rockwell is someone who could be an upset pick at +1000. Russell Crowe playing Roger Ailes has gotten a lot of support and Fox News is such a big company and talking point I would hesitate to lay -358 here with Jared. While he likely wins I'll toss a few shekels on Crowe who I thought portrayed Ailes very well.
Russell Crowe +420

Speaking of another actor making a comeback. Renee Zellweger in Judy. People who portray celebrities seem to do well as I said before and this performance is getting a lot of attention. A few critics have said it's a performance of a lifetime and I thought she was solid. I really liked Scarlett Johansson in Marriage Story as well but I'll be shocked if Renee loses.
Renee Zellweger -334

For all the hype about Awkwafina's performance I thought it fell short and I am a bit surprised by this number. I felt like she oversold a lot of what the character was feeling. Great script and the film will for sure get some nominations. I'm going to take a flyer on Ana De Armas in Knives Out. The morphine scene really sold me on her and I thought overall it was a great performance along side Daniel Craig. I wasn't expecting much from the film but it's sneaky good.
Ana De Armas +380

I'm all aboard the Parasite train. I've already bet Parasite to win the best picture at the Oscars and usually when a film wins BP it also collects up the best director. It was so beautifully shot and I think the only reason Bong Joon Ho isn't more of a favourite is because he's against two legends in Scorsese and Tarantino. If he loses I'm only going to get better odds on him at the Oscars. The Globes loves to hand out freebies to people where the Oscars actually gets it right. Parasite is hands down the best movie this year and Bong Joon Ho deserves all the awards.
Bong Joon Ho +100

Succession is going to do very well I feel. Brian Cox makes you want to strangle him that's how good he is. I haven't seen any of the other tv shows but this is the year the Globes get it right and give Succession it's glory.
Brian Cox -200
Best Lead Actress - TV Drama-Best Lead Actress - TV Drama
Colman is going for 3-3 at the Globes. I think she loses. A few reasons: Last six winners in this category have been from new series and Aniston has the star power. The Crown is more critically acclaimed and this is still a wide open race but I'll take Aniston to win a close one.
Jennifer Aniston -118
Best Motion Picture - Drama-Best Motion Picture – Drama
I think the Irishman is overrated and just way too long. Legendary actors who are past their prime trying too hard. Would not surprise me at all to see an upset here despite how much Netflix has spent into marketing and everything else to win. The Joker has made over a billion and is live but I'll take Marriage Story here as I think it's not only better acted but a much better script.
Marriage Story +270

One of the weakest categories I've seen in awhile. I liked both OUATIH and Knives Out. Won't be laying -500 but it should win.

I'm upset I didn't get this at +250 but it's down to +150 now and Succession should win here. Recommend watching this as you'll be glued to your seat.
Succession +150
A few categories my book didn't have but I see are on other sites.
I like Jennifer Lopez to win best supporting actress and Brad Pitt best supporting actor. Fleabag to win best comedy series and Bill Hader to win best Comedy TV actor. Phoebe-Waller Bridge to win best TV Actress. Meryl Streep to win best tv supporting actress and Andrew Scott to win best tv supporting actor.
