My local has a -105 line, and he has 2 different websites that get their lines from different places. I seldom find a better line on the Greek or 5Dimes that aren't a result of late line movement.

I have be careful giving my local too much action outside of NFL season. More than 2/3 of his client only place action on football. If he has to pay me 3-4 weeks on a row during the summer, he starts hinting that he should shut down during the summer.

I recall listening to a CNBC special about sportsbetting where they interviewed a professional sport bettor in Las Vegas. He said that, even though he lives in Vegas, most of his wagers are with illegal local and not the casinos or online.

I like my local, and he treats everything like a business. There have been a couple of discrepancies, and he immediately fixed them. If there is a bad line posted that I wagered, he will personally call me to let me know. This has happened on baseball a couple of times in both cases the line was off by 15 cents. I usually place MLB wagers based on starting pitchers. One time, I placed a large wager on a team and acidently selected "regardless of starting pitcher". When the pitcher was scratched, my local called me 10 minutes before the game started because he noticed that's not how I usually do things. He saved me $4,500, and cost himself $3,500.

They know you through a buddy who vouches for you. They give you small credit at first. Gradually build it up as necessary when they see you are responsible. Just like a bank basically. Much easier to get a CC with 500 limit than 50,000, but if you build a good reputation, you can get there

i use offshore, but i also have a local, bets are made online, and lines are dead on, though occasionally slow moving which is a good thing. i have 10k line of credit but we settle up on the dimes. if i won 10k this weekend, he would come monday am with my money, and it would be 10k. not 8500 after fees and having to get 2 echecks, 2 canadian checks and four wires from pablo escobar jimenez rodriguez-torres. my local has 20 cent bases so i use where there is a clear advantage, but you cant beat a good agent for convenience.

I wouldn't mind dealing with a local. It would cut out a lot of the BS with offshore. I would think most are full vig, though ?

most pph sites let the agents put their customers on reduced vig if they want. i´ve had a few -105´s in the past.

Sports bar around the corner has 50 dollar buy in holdem games in the back, 8 screens, and on any given Sunday has three locals taking action, buying drinks.........

If one of the locals that owes you money and isn't there for some reason, the other two will cover it, vice versa.

I play with 3 locals - 2 of which have websites that pull offshore lines. Its very simple really. I had $1,400 taken from my poker account since I live in Massachusetts. Its simple really. What was your point again?

Paco - you're better than that.

I like playing with locals. I like the smell of dirty sweaty cash when I win. We meet at the local watering hole and if I lose he buys the drinks and dinner and If I win I do the same for him. He is very nice to me and speaks fluent English unlike those idiots you get at customer service with offshore books.

There's good and bad in dealing with a local. Good things: cash in hand (no faxing in every cc # you've ever used). 105 juice. No need to pay if down $200 or less. Bad things: Betting on credit can lead to mad chasing. There's a lot of pressure to get in the "positive" by Sunday night (reset night). Also a lot of pressure to play every week without taking a break because a pph local will lock you out if you don't give him a lot of action. It's all worth the experience and a great way to mature as a gambler. You learn a lot about yourself and for me I'll never go back.
