Last year, JV's number were best in baseball mainly because of his movement, location, and velocity and partly because of luck. This year, his numbers are still very very good mainly because of his movement, location, and velocity but not getting quite as lucky this year. BABIP is up slightly (mainly b/c the inf defense around him is even worse than last year) and he is stranding fewer runners. He still seems to struggle most against quality opponents (e.g. nyy, bos, tex, and tb) but dominates the very weak AL Central Division and the extremely weak NL. Still has another 2 or 3 years of dominating baseball left in him before he starts to decline. Roy Halladay was the best AL pitcher of the 2000s and now Verlander is best pitcher of this decade. IMO, best spots to fade him are on the road against good teams. His home performances are still, for the most part, too dominating to think about fading.

None of that Kate Upton stuff matters....that gossip is for little girls IMO.

I still think Tigs win AL Central this year but not by 15 games like last year. Last year was a perfect storm where so many guys had career years (e.g. Johnny Peralta, Alex Avila, Ryan Raburn, Jose Valverde, Doug Fister etc...). Their offense is inconsistent and heavely reliant on two guys. Pitching, outside of JV, is very inconsistent and Porcello and Fister are proving to be, at best, average pitchers.

I give Tigs slightly better than 50% chance to win AL central and Verlander to continue to pitch well...but prices will be high to back him in those situations IMO.
