Meh, Wins are a pretty useless stat when evaluating a pitchers true worth.

How's his WHIP and ERA compared to the other top AL pitchers?

      Actually, WINS are underrated.

However, at this time I don't see him making the squad, to many others more deserving because of their better ERA's and WHIPS combined with the fact the Red Sox will be well represented as is. Heck, Josh Beckett may make it as a starting pitcher.

Right now the RED SOX overall pitching staff is just outstanding, from top to bottom. They have an incredible overall bullpen, just incredible.

Ever watch charity games where MLB stars play slow pitch softball? It's so damn funny because they can't hit very well. You would think it would be out of the park everytime. Then you get some guy like Norm from Cheers that's the king of his bar league who's huffing and puffing with his shirt busting open and he hits the ball 100 feet over the fence.

I gained a new appreciation for Wakefield by playing video games with him as my pitcher or playing against him.I do well with him,and not so well against him not that you can correlate real baseball with cartoon baseball.hehe! And the slower the pitching overall with change ups and such on video baseball, the more lame the ball comes off the bat.

If you were given one chance at bat in an MLB game where if you had to prove yourself to get a longer stay on the team,I would want to bat against White Sox Bobby Janks.Just swing as hard as you can preparing for a fast ball and if you hit his heat,it will leave the field.Wakefield could make you look like an idiot.Same goes for boxing where some guy doesn't possess much but he's so unorthodox he gives a champion nightmares.

Wakefield is my favorite Red Sox. The guy just pitches and keeps his mouth shut. True class all the way. FYI, he is only 18 wins short of having the most wins by a pitcher in a Red Sox uniform.

                My favorite player also...........

By the way, Wakefield has the most LOSSES in a Red Sox uniform by a large margin..............look it up.

                    Who wadda thunk...............

Wakefield who is not known for the K would be 16th among hall of famer’s in strikeouts per nine.

That stat places him in front of names like Don Sutton, Bob Feller, Warren Spahn, Phil Niekro, Walter Johnson and Gaylord Perry.

umm yeah i hate to disagree but i completely disagree. He already has a spot on the all-star team and he very well could be the starter for the AL.

I hope Wakefield getson the squad. He has never made an all-star team. He keeps his mouth shut and pitched for the past 15 years in Boston. Been left off playoff rosters, but keeps giving you 200 innings each year and saves the bullpen.

Actually, he is tied with Halladay and Slowey at least. Not sure if there are others with 10.
