I'd also wouldn't mind seeing Winnipeg get their team back.

Hockey belongs in Canada, NOT Arizona, or Tennessee or Carolina.

The hockey market in Ontario is the strongest in North America, period.

Andy Strickland, the one who started this rumor and said he had inside info from Chris Pronger, removed the blog in which he reported this trade. This is 100% false.

There is a reason why this isn't on tsn.ca or any other real news site. Why on earth would the Kings trade not only a great young d-man in Jack Johnson but also the 5th overall pick to their rival for a soon to be 35 year old Pronger with just one year left on his contract?

This is completely false, don't get your hopes up Blitty.

Dave, not false at all. I'm watching "Morency" talk about the Pronger trade on the Score as I type this and its a serious show, they are not making this up.

What is completely true is that hockey is an afterthought in the California media and it (hockey news) is as serious as cancer here in Canada.

I remember when Burke (at the time in charge of Anaheim) was asked if he was headed to Toronto to take over the Leafs, it was all denied as rumors and speculation.

Guess where he ended up?

They have no choice but to deny, thats protocol.

It's definitely possible that there is, say, some three way deal brewing with LA, Ana, and TB, with names like Pronger, Vinny, Johnson, the #5, and the #2 being shuffled around; but Pronger for the #5 and Johnson straight up? 1,000,000% false.

Dave, the link you provided was an hour older than the one I provided confirming the trade.

Obviously I don't have the ability to confirm anything but the Score is typically looking to "scoop" TSN and Sportsnet on a big Hockey story, I'll believe the story until other news arrives.

The Kings had a GREAT year on defense last year, and have Teubert, Hickey, and Voinov in the pipeline.

They are hurting bad for offense.

Why they wouldn't draft a bonafide scorer (Kane, Schenn, MSP) or use this trading chip for a sniper instead of a past-his-prime defenseman in his division no less, there is NOTHING believable at this trade.

I thought Russ Courtnall for John Kordic was an impossible trade, but it happened.

One of the worst trades in NHL history.

Like I said, this may have been an accidental leak to something bigger, ala:

To Tampa Bay: Chris Pronger, Ana 1st overall pick
To Los Angeles: Vinny Lecavlier, TB 1st overall pick
To Anaheim: Jack Johnson, LA 1st overall pick

But the trade as reported is incredibly unrealistic and obviously reported by someone who doesn't know anything about the Kings, their pipeline, or their rebuild.

Dave you keep sourcing blogs to say that the trade is false while others are seeing it on TELEVISION where real reporting takes place and they have to take accountability for their stories. I am not syaing that its definitely true but to say there that little of a chance of it happening is egregious.
