#73I'm all about steady income these days. Like STWD throwing off 9% and HTGC at 9% a couple of real estate'ers like JRS also paying 9%. Got a little in these leveraged guys like AGNC paying 10.5%. AGNC is a $20 stock that has paid out $37 in dividends the past 20 years.
A couple of investment grade tax free guys paying 5.5% lke MYI and my favorite NQP which is about 70% AA and AAA.
Just have to leave the grow & grind to the young bucks who have time to ride out the valleys.Comment -

#74Too many other good stocks right now, especially tech. NVID, AMD, WDC, alphabet, MU, SWKS, APPL AMZN, OLED all will keep going higher. I love BABA which is the next Amazon.
$10k on Amazon 20 years ago is worth $5 million today. Investing in solid companies in the long haul is much better than speculating on penny stocks, especially companies that are bankrupt or restrucuring.Comment -

#77AGNC and NLY as well as NRZ are all in the same business and pretty interesting scams. Borrow at feds funds rate and invest or loan out govt agency backed paper. STWD is the commercial side of the same scam. All four of those borrow at 1% and loan out at 4%. Since the 1% floats they are vulnerable to rapid rate increases.
I have ETP that I got on sale at $22, ETE's evil mistress. I also have JMP and JMLP which are funds that hold a lot of the mid streamers. They also pay about 9%. Those midstreamers have a few issues to be sure but they are way off their highs and should be a great play under Trump. Like Enable (ENBL) well managed conservative company with dependable earnings and paying almost 8%.Comment -

#78It's pretty hard for any stock to perform as well as Amazon but if Baba can grow into international countries outside of China, it can become a behemoth. I know many people that are buying off of Alibaba over Amazon. If they can find a way to quicker, efficient distribution (which Amazon excels) they are going to kick ass, especially in countries like China and India. They are building up their cloud computing as well. They just purchased **. You have billions of people in China and India and you give them access to be able to buy shit and you can't help but make money. If they can distribute goods quickly and cheaply, they might surpass Amazon one day. I never even heard of them a few years ago but I buy shit off them all the time. Their prices are always cheaper with zero taxes but the delayed shipping is an issue. If they can decrease shipping time they will be a threat.Comment -

chico you would need some good inside info to buy or hold ssi. They are looking to lose $.89 this year and $1.25 next year. So this year and next they are estimating to lose $54m and they have $14m in the bank. They have a reasonably low debt level of $100m but they have to be close to default.
One would not be able to look at their balance sheet and their loss projections and see how they could survive. Maybe sell their online unit I don't know. I think only the bankruptcy lawyers make anything on this one.Comment -

What a ride, kick back and cruise.. always drive with just my right thumb
on the wheel, or wrist draiped over the top. I paid $500 for it around 1990
and sold it in 1995 for $250. Even with its issues that car today is probably
worth thousands all day. Prices are really going up on '70s beasts.

Chico yea we can let the Gipper rip. I sponsored my illegal gf through his program about a million years ago. He was a good man but I resct your opinion.
Some of those guys that argue in those threads are in it for the action. It's all good. I go a bit out of character at times myself. I was broke most of my life and after my first kid I had 4 jobs for a long while. Left at 4am and got home at 10pm, 7 days a week. Eventually I made CEO and retired. I hate todays non work ethic. I hate giving my money to the lazy and feel very strongly we should help those who want to work and live the American Dream. So nothing personal.
I see a lot of good stocks but I have to pass. Bond funds like MYI and NQP pay 5.6% tax free and hold 100's of issues. I need income and mostly can't afford a bear market so have to play it conservatively.Comment -

#90Yea? I think I'm going thru some kind of weird crisis. I bought that 83 caddy with 14k original miles. It was in a movie set collection. I was dead broke in the 80's but never stopped wanting one so i bought that fugger. Great ride. I'm still old but don't feel it in that baby.

#94Snowball be careful with that stock. I love the business category extra rugged devices for battlefield situations. But MICT has a $7 million dollar cap and does not appear to have any sales.

I don't care if a company is on a 52 week high as long as people use them. My wife and kids don't use cable anymore. They've basically cut the cord even though I primarily use it. They are strictly NFLX, all day everyday. Amazon had a lot of ups and downs the last decade. You can't be an emotional investor. I do play with some volatile stocks for fun but I stick with solid companies long term and don't sweat it.
I love bitcoin, ethereal and litecoin. Electronic currency is the way of the future. It's coming whether we like it or not or keep our head in the sand. I bought a dozen bitcoin when it was $90. I bought several for my kids when it was $400 last year. I'm kicking myself I didn't buy more back in the day. Oh well, I'm about to buy a lot more at $2k each. BC ain't going down. It will continue to rise because the cat is out of the bag.Comment -

#97We just had a pullback 2 days ago. You could wait for another pullback but why? Anytime is a good time to get into BABA imo. They are going to have a long run the next 10 years. There's a few tech stocks that i'm long and i'll pick up more whenever there's a dip. Amazon is a no brainer for me because everywhere I look I see white vans delivering packages. Baba is following in there footsteps in China and hopefully India. Pretty hard for them NOT to make money. I am long in Nvdia, WDC, MU, Apple, AMD, SWKS, NFLX, Google, FB, OLED in tech. These are companies I use everyday. I just bought Walmart last month because their ramping up their shipping model to compete with Amazon. I hated picking anything up at a Walmart ghetto store but i'll ship it to the house for sure (I just had a Wally package delivered a few minutes ago). I past by Chipotle every day and they are always packed. I picked them up when they had the Ecoli scare and will buy more shortly.

Hindsight is so 20/20. I bought bitcoins early on but sold several just to get a feel of what the hell was going on. Hell, I sold 2 bitcoins for $75 I think a couple of years ago.
I'd hang onto bit coins. I actually think we're going to eventually see them sky rocket to over $10k in the next few years. It will probably become THE global currency. I told myself to pound it last year but didn't. I'm about to make a huge play in the next few weeks. It only makes sense that people will eventually want to hold it versus gold.Last edited by Mac4Lyfe; 05-19-17, 09:23 PM.Comment -

A corollary to that last point is that LTC's already buyable on 3 of the 4 largest exchanges (Bitfinex, Poloniex, and Kraken, but not yet Bitstamp) for DOLLARS. Most alts only bother to become tradeable in Bitcoin, so when you find a coin you can buy for actual cash, chances are they're a very professional operation.
Additional resources, if interested:
1. Market Cap Bible page for all Alt Coins: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/all/
2. LTC's reddit pg: https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/
3. If you're really serious about learning more, the place to do that is in the development team's Slack Chat room. Tons of great inside info comes out of Slack, including completely actionable insider trading tips that would be illegal under SEC auspices. But they're pretty selective about who can join, so PM me if you'd like an invite.Comment -

#103Funny you say that. I just bought LTC last week. Def NOT too late to jump in. In fact, this recent price dip has created a nice buying opportunity. Litecoin's got an awesomely low float of 50 million coins (compared to 99 billion coins for Ripple), it's got a niche separate from BTC (instant, free transaction confirmation), and it's got a completely professional development team.
