    Learning to find good fades
Sometimes it is easier to find a good fade than agonize over all the numbers in any given game. A fade is simply where you pick the opposite of what someone else is picking. I don't always fades...but I usually take a look at what these people have to say and usually I am on the opposite anyway.

    1. I have a friend....she is 42 mother and she has two sons who are 9 and 11 I think. They love football...can't get enough of it. I make sure to ask her what her sons think about the games this week. More times than not they are off big time.

    2. If you go to a university, usually every week in the studnet newspaper(s) on Thursdays or Fridays, there will be a sports section with members of the sports staff who offer their picks on marquee games....perfect fade opportunity here. They always pick the obvious ones and favorites as well.

    3. Check out a local paper where local sports writers offer their picks. Usually they struggle just to get a .500 SU record and that's with pickiing overwhelming favorites. Imagine their ATS!!!

    4. The office pool provides a good source for fades. Just people who have no idea doing this for "fun." Those type of people are the ideal fades.

    5. Alwys go to espn.com and look at "expert picks." Seems like those guys are in unison for all their picks. Remember it's those type of guys who drive the liines the wrong way and get you that extra value. Just imagine, there are actual recreational bettors I am sure that check out what they have to say b/c they believe they know something about the games. Perfect fade opportunities.

    6. Talk with people who don't bet but are avid sports fans to see what they think of the games. You'll find they'll say things like "Team X has no chance of winning" "it's going to be a blow out" and so on and so forth....those cue words should alert you and should give you a general idea of the general publics attitude toward the game.

    Good Luck

Farily in depth writeup. I don't think I have every made a fade play based on any one person's pick. I have faded public action that pushed the line to a point where I thought was good bet, but the idea of just fading squares has always seemed questionable. You ever keep long term records on all your fade picks BuddyBear?

Fade all my college picks, and play all my NFL picks. You would be up like 120 units already.

I don't consciously fade any individual, but I do like to fade the general public, especially on the bigger games.

I swear, these 2 dudes over at covers.com named JoeBrensports and AlexGurv. Everytime I see these 2 suckers betting the same team I'm on, I quickly cancell my bet.

I love MD Terps +10 last night, but When I saw those 2 clowns on the Terps. I quickly changed my bet to Under 48 and cashed in nice.

general hint about fading. Fade people who dont bet so well. For example, if someone has gone 0-50 for the year in bets fade him. Trust me, i make the lines in Vegas i kno what im tlaking about

If you guys see a handicapper do bad? are you more inclined to actually follow his picks thinking he might get one right sooner or later?

yes montreal exactly, you have masterd the trade of handicaping , we rely on suckers in the V to think that just because a handicapper misses a few that he will be bad forever. Bravo montreal your parents should be proud of you if they arent already

                    Profound.

Montreal - don't follow handicappers who have been struggling. They are not more likely to win than someone who has been hot.

I usually don't say much when it comes to all this nonsense but this line takes the cake. This forum is becoming more of a comedy store than a place to get info.

Oh, and by the way (to stay on subject), if I post a pick, it's usually a good idea to fade it. I have been bad.

your right to a certain degree. but, you can use a good fades pick as far as somewhat of a guideline. then you can't cap the game there after.

Fading is the easiest betting method out there and it works.

Not trying to be disrespectful, but, isn't your previous statement rather trivial info? I mean, I think I could figure out that if someone is 0 and 50 that this guy probably has the name of Wrongy Wrongensen. Even I could figure out to fade a guy with the name Wrongy Wrongensen. I just think that this is really obvious info. With a history of 50 games and them all being wrong, I would have to think, yes, he's gonna get a couple right but for the most part he's going to pick them wrong.
