Craig's List infested with scammers. Please read if you plan to sell stuff.Clever !
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7000 camera, lens and flash package for sale with the sought after beer can 70-210 AF lens.I placed an ad on their Duluth and twin cities location site and within minutes was swamped with exact same offers where they wanted to offer more than what I was asking for it.The kicker was that you had to receive a Paypal payment and you had to give them your e-mail address used at Paypal.Of course they wanted you to make a mistake and also send them your Paypal password. Then if you had either money in your account or a credit card on file, they would loot your account.I'm sure if they do this 1000 times a day you are bound to have a rube make a mistake and send you all of your login information.I could tell that it originated in some damn boiler room over in Nigeria. The idiots just don't quite have enough on the ball not to raise red flags immediately to 93% of people placing ads.

Craig's list posts a bunch of disclaimers to cover their ass but I feel sorry for them because they are going down on account of the site now being totally diseased.

CL is meant for local sales ? Why in the world would you give ur CC/Paypal info and vice versa. Ive made many transactions smoothly.. only in person /Cash only though. I go alone, and meet near a populated area. Its pretty obvious if people are betting out and beyond what you asked for. I dont care about some faggot in Minnesota looking at my PS3 if im in North Carolina .

I went the E-bay route 3 hours later and will get double what I asked for on Craig's List.Immediately got legit bids. It's the Minolta 7000 70-210 with the world map behind it.

C-list is fine and you can totally deal via paypal. Just arrange the sale via email communication and initiate the payment by sending an invoice through paypal's invoicing "money request" feature. If the the buyer is verified you get the same seller protection you would get as if he/she had won an auction on ebay. Make sure you ship w/ delivery confirmation. The buyer is protected against non-delivery too.

Screw giving ebay more money (since they own paypal). I often generate more sales (I sell tickets like a mad man) on Clist by splitting the ebay commission I would have to pay with the buyer.

eBay is the only way to go.

They should rename Craigslist, NigerianScamlist cause that's all it is now.

Listen to Boner 18, ...it's fine if the seller has a verified paypal account.

I agree it's full of scammers but if you have half your wits about you you can avoid the hassle.

You like giving more of your sales proceeds to the ebay corp? How do they treat you as a seller? Not to well IMHO.

I will agree that ebay is the only way to go for things that are "thinly traded" such as some electronics. But for tickets, gift certificates and things that are more fungible, Clist is the way to go.
