mods are horrible gamblers. they are bad with #'s and dont know percentages.. just look at bbd for example.. 29% lifetime bettor. genny only bets nascar.. i asked genny last week to name me one current baseball player, the only name he came up with was babe ruth.. i said genny, i said current, not past..Comment -

Alright, now that made me laugh. And the sad part is that it's largely true. Now, don't get me wrong, I bet tennis and hockey and even NASCAR. I'm the paragon of an action junkie degen, and I make no excuses for it.
JJ hit the nail on the head when he referenced Mods relating to posters. The current staff doesn't really make themselves at home here relating with the posters. The Mods acknowledge that they have an Invisible Mode to eavesdrop in chat and view every PM sent in the room, and only Vegas Dave has ever apologized for those egregious breaches of privacy and respect. The majority of the time they enter a thread is to give us the "party line" and not to join in the shenanigans.
Now I was a critic of BBD too, I sometimes found his tactics to be banal and inelegant, but every time I interacted with him behind the scenes, the experience ended with me feeling respected and valued for contributing to the forum. That's the feeling I miss on the board. I've said it before, they need someone who enjoys the drama to take point, instead of making us feel like we're a burden to their business.
I do want to finish by saying that Justin7 is really an exception to the rule here. If I step over the line, he PMs me rather than just sending out an infraction, his messages are always respectful, including a please and thank you, and you can tell he's just a really good guy. On top of that, he's obviously got a brilliant mind and a gift with the written word. His videos always teach me something, and he has a cat in his avatar. My hat's off to Justin, I really look forward to shaking his hand at the Bash.
And that's not to say that I don't like the other Mods too. Willie Bee is obviously very smart and full of wisdom, but interacting with him is a lot like being called to the principal's office in grade school. Lou's a good guy, but he's never around on the board. The General is definitely growing on me, but by his own admission he's holding back. Dozer...well,...my Mother taught me if you can't say anything nice...
Anyhow, I'm just trying to say that it'd be nice if I were able to forget that these guys were Mods sometimes. Most of the time I read a BBD post (or Onlooker or Illusion), his Mod status never even entered my mind. I miss that feeling, the same feeling you get when your parents went out for the night and your big brother was left in charge. You knew that you still had to follow a few rules, but you also knew you were gonna get to have more fun than you were used to.
Posting here used to be a lot more fun, it was a stream of consciousness activity more often than not. Now I find myself censoring myself and writing less, because nobody likes getting an infraction out of nowhere or getting called to the principal's office. I would guess from the changes in content in PT that I'm not the only one who feels that way. In fact I hope that this post doesn't get me an infraction...

Justin does bet but rarely gives out plays. He is best used in the Industry and Think Tank sections because of his great knowledge and rightfully so, is needed even more these day since Ganchrow got chucked. Justin also does a good job of handling disputes. I find a big difference in the "Players talk" mods as opposed to the "Think Tank" mods. And its not to say that any of these guys are bad, but BBD was a players talk mod. General, Lou, Dave, fall short of this task.Originally posted by SBR_JohnComment -
