    Sports Bettors Need Friends Too

Of all the different gambling endeavors, perhaps none is as lonely as the life of a sports bettor. Casino gamblers have each other for support, while horse bettors have their fellow patrons at the track to keep them company. But the sports bettor is often all alone, spending hours in front of the computer and not coming into contact with another human being during the day.

It's important for sports bettors to have a friendly voice, somebody who can pick them up when they're on a losing streak or help them keep their feet on the ground when they're on a hot streak. And only a fellow sports bettor can really understand what it's like to try and beat the bookmakers on a consistent basis.

Only a fellow sports bettor can feel your pain when a last-second 3-point shot turns your bet into a loser, and only a fellow sports bettor can truly understand why it's easy to wager $880 on a football game, but it can be a painstaking decision whether to leave the waitress a $7 tip or $8 after lunch. It takes a fellow sports bettor to see how a person can place $3,300 in bets during college basketball season on a Saturday afternoon, but will drive 30 minutes out of their way to save $10 on a new television.

Only fellow sports bettor can see the logic in turning off the TV right at the second the outcome of the game is going to be decided and then turning it on again 15 seconds later or why a person to justify spending three hours to save $6 by waiting for the odds to change on a baseball game before making a bet.

If you know of a fellow sports bettor, make plans to talk to them at least once a week. You can talk about bad beats suffered during the week, talk about the upcoming games, how you nailed a particular total, or anything else that comes to mind about sports betting. You'll both benefit from it and it will give you something to look forward to all week.

But those bettors who personally don't know of any other sports gamblers are in luck too, as there are plenty of fellow bettors to be found in sports betting forums. Forums can be good places to find betting information, but they often provide a whole lot more in the way of socialization for sports bettors, who begin to think of fellow forum posters as being like family and friends.

For some bettors, just having several people chime in with a "Good Luck" after they post their plays is a huge psychological boost and the mental aspect of sports betting is one that is far too often overlooked. By the same token, many bettors like to be on the other end of the message and post "Good Luck" to other bettors. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

There are dozens of sports betting forums out there and a bettor should take a bit of time visiting some of the different ones and seeing which group of characters they feel most comfortable around and which one they believe will yield the most benefit. If nothing else, the sports betting forums will let the sports gambler know they are not alone in their endeavors.

That was really a great read, and I'm very proud to be part of the SBR family. I look forward to celebrating your successes as I would my own, and lamenting your defeats as though it were my money that was now feeding a village in Costa Rica...
