Budinger's vertical jump is 45 inches. Jordan's was 42 in his prime. A couple others of note. Dominique Wilkins was 48. The NFL vertical jump record is held by Boss Bailey (Champ Bailey's brother) out of Georgia. His was measured at 46, only 1 inch higher than Budinger's.

This means that Budinger can jump higher than about 99% of all black people.

They are really emphasizing Budinger's athleticism after Dick the retard Enberg said that he was like a Luke Walton. Which is what announcers usually do, compare whites to whites no matter how different they are. If I had to guess I would say Walton's verticle leap is around 30. Which is still high.

The highest verticle I've ever heard of was from a guy they called the Helicopter who played for Cincinnati in the 90's. His was like 55 inches I think.

Vertical means nothing. Harold Miner had a 44" and sucked at anything that wasnt the dunking contest.

    Btw Jordan was 48".

It means everything when talking about athleticism which is what I was talking about. I didn't say anything about basketball skills but if you want to talk about that Budinger is all Pac 10 and may go in the 1st round.

Edit, I got Jordan and Nique mixed up. Jordan was 48 and Nique was 42.

Again I wasn't talking about basketball skills, I was talking athleticism. Even so, Budinger is a great basketball player.

You must think Kobe is unathletic then, since he's just 38" vertical.

Vertical means nothing. It's like saying a football player is athletic because he can bench 500LBs. Lots of unathletic guys can bench 500..... Its not a big deal.

Many of the hall of famers (future) such as Malone had a 28" vertical; Shaq 32"; Iverson 41"; Pierce 38"; Carmelo 41". Larry Bird couldnt even break 30".

To say someone is athletic because they can jump high is retarded. There's more to it then that such as quickness, upper body strenght, positioning, etc. Just look at tonight and how Buddy is being manhandled by bigger stronger guys.

Buddy was all Pac-10? So was Luke Walton. He went 32nd overall which was almost the 1st rd.

You're better than me? not in this debate.

dagger, look at my edited post above which was made at 8:49, roughly 20 minutes before your post above.

Your source is flawed. Actually my sources are flawed. Look up anyone and there are 50 different recorded vertical jumps.

My sources came from my memory through TV and newspapers through the years. I distinctly remember ESPN reporting Boss Bailey had broken the NFL vertical jump record and what they said it was (46 inches).

I see online he has many different recorded verticals ranging vastly. So online sources are flawed and seemingly depending on the day and year and time of year players verticals can range 10 or more inches.

I know for a fact that Kobe has a vertical higher than 38. Its impossible that he doesn't. He may be the most athletic NBA player of all time.

                    My source is flawed?

No, I think its ur memory thats flawed. As evidenced by you telling me that you are better because you were so sure Jordan only had 42" vertical. Only to later agree with my source.

Why do u think Kobe leaps higher than listed? Because he's athletic? Like I said, athleticism has nothing to do with vertical numbers. Has more to do with quickness, explosiveness and recovery vertical something Buddy woefully lacks. He'll be lucky if he's as good as Luke Walton.
