Well Iwin, you got respect points in my book for your response to my tirade. The fact of the matter is, I find you a very likable person. You do, though, have a tendency to inflate or embellish your own personal details in conversation. In the future this could prove to be your undoing, and I certainly don't want to see that.
When I was a young man, I was very active in the political machine, on the side of the Elephants. I was a snot-nosed 15-year old when Jack Kemp's brother Paul (Jack was Bob Dole's running mate in the '96 election) invited me to attend a fundraiser with him in San Francisco as sort of a mascot for the future of the party. It was one of those $2,000/head events, and I knew when I put on that tuxedo that I was far outside my element.
While I was at the party, Paul did a laudable effort at introducing me to people and helping me make conversation, but despite his best efforts my shyness generally led me to keep to myself. As we sat down to dinner, I found myself at a table with a very soft-spoken Japanese gentleman and his lovely wife. In between courses, he introduced his wife and himself, and when I inquired as to his job he replied that he was a factory worker. I nodded and smiled politely, wondering to myself how he was able to afford entrance to this lavish event.
As the event winded down, Paul and I were exiting and he asked how I found my dinner company. I told him that I found everyone to be exceptionally nice, especially the Japanese couple, and inquired as to how they could afford the event on a single income from a factory worker. Paul started to laugh boisterously, and told me that I'd been dining with the Executive Vice President of Kikkoman USA, the largest Japanese food importer in the Western Hemisphere.
I tell this story because it was that evening that I realized your praises never sound better than when the come from someone else's mouth. In fact, when you undersell yourself, say as a factory worker, you leave infinite room for people to be impressed with you. When you oversell yourself, you leave room only for disappointment. It's a hard thing to do, keeping your success tucked securely under your vest, but it's a secret of the world's most impressive people.

Coach Robinson isn't just any coach. He's intelligent, charismatic, and is bringing the #22 recruiting class in the nation to the Beavers, who were winless in the Pac-10 last year. We found ourselves a real winner and I hope we can keep him at OSU for a long, long time.
