bwin (SBR rating C) refuses to refund confiscated NBA wager winnings (3/12/09 report). During further discussion bwin changed its reason for canceling the bet from a "obvious line error" to leaving the game on the board after scheduled post time.
bwin stated the player placed his wagers between one and five minutes after the game was scheduled to start. Canceling a winning wager after the game due to the fact that the sportsbook left the line up a few extra minutes is unacceptable. The practice allows sportsbook to take wagers the player does not have a chance of winning. More importanly, SBR has shown bwin management that the game did not start until 8 minutes after the hour (NBA odds history) which is common in the NBA.
