    Don Zimmer Dead at 83
    Great baseball guy.

No one will ever forget Pedro slapping him around, but he was a guy who dedicated his life to the game he loved, and had the respect of everyone around the league for his baseball mind.

During a minor league game on July 7, 1953, Zimmer was struck by a pitch thrown by pitcher Jim Kirk, causing Zimmer to faint. He suffered a brain injury and coagulant, which required surgery. He woke up two weeks later, thinking that it was the day after the game where the incident took place. This led to Major League Baseball adopting batting helmets as a safety measure to be used by players when at-bat.

Not because of the result, but because of the balls on the guy

                                          He lived for the game.

Saw him play for the Senators back in the day.

He was indeed one of baseball's treasures.

                                          Thanks for the memories Zim.

                                          Rest In Peace.
