#17There's the old saying, "They stopped making land years ago.". There will be people who will rent. I could always set them up as timeshares if nothing else. I know someone who is buying them from auction and turning them over for a nice little profit right now.Comment -

#19there is the old saying, two things are certain in life are death and taxes...making profit flipping real estate in vegas is still a gamble. wait til obama start figure out new taxes for vegas. every air conditioner you have will cost you shitload of carbon tax.Comment -

#20I would buy musical instruments and equipment and set up a recording studio for myself. Nothing too elaborate. More a hobby thing.
Other than that, I would semi-retire. I'd devote much less time to betting and spend more at other interests. Music, writing, working with addicts - maybe take some college courses in who-knows-what.Comment -

#29Honestly? I'd just put it away. 4 or 5% interest, that's $40,000 to $50,000 a year. I'm a minimalist, I don't need too many extravagant things... 40K - 50K would be easy enough on its own to live on, and whatever I was doing to keep busy (or still hopefully at SBR!) in the meantime would keep me happy.Comment -

#31Buying rental houses "sounds" like a good idea in this market. But being a landlord decreases your quality of life unless you have an amazing management team (achieved with scale) or a great manager/handyman that comes cheap.Comment -
