#249ya def staged but entertaining non the less i thought. i found an article that explained pretty much how it worked
On the show, rival crews run sports gambling operations while competing for territory. Delinquent customers are roughed up, TVs go flying through attic windows, silent threats are delivered through the cryptic ordering of whiskey shots. And if you have eyes and ears, I don’t need to tell you that it’s all made up. Discovery Channel blurs the line (a mild disclaimer warns only of “dramatizations”), but Rocca doesn’t bother pretending like it’s not scripted. “We’ll read it and go, ‘Shit, let’s talk about the time we did this and this,’” he explains. “Because sometimes, they try to get us to say stupid shit.” So, more or less: Discovery hired ex-cons to play themselves pretending to commit crimes, and those fake crimes may or may not be similar to real crimes they may or may not have, at one point, actually committed.Comment -

This is what typically happens in entertainment too. You start with a great show that's close to 100% real (Deadliest Catch), people piggyback off of it, but the more they do, the "real" aspects of it don't end up being as interesting, so the producers need to steer it some, and over time end up steering the whole thing. Meanwhile, there's a tipping point with the audience to where they like some ridiculousness, but only to a degree, then you can't hold their attention anymore. We're seeing it now.Comment -

#252It's to the point now where you can't really fool most audiences if it's not mostly real. Or you can just not care (Amish Mafia), and it's so bizarre you have to watch, even though it's basically a sitcom.

#260I stumbled across this show last night and watched for 30-40 minutes. All these people are losers and no one more than anyone who supposedly wants to play a game for $50,000 and he's calling these experts for picks that have no sound basis. It's laughable, how stupid all these people are, and I guess I'm stupid for watching.Comment -

#264He passed. Do you realize i took a huge risk getting his plays directly. With the intention on fading him if he won he would of took a nice chunk off my ***********. He has me down alittle over 300k that he barely talks to me because hes ashamed of himself for giving me 1 winner out of 15 selections. But im cleaning up fading this prick. I couldnt imagine being a noob again

#266love how they buy the hook on every game.. even on a 28.5 favorite in cfbbest part is that the casinos apparently dont charge for it, as their bet amount is always a -110 figure regardless of if they bought points or not

#267seriously, what's the deal with these fukking clowns always paying extra juice and buying points? i just thought it was pinny420 thing.
is there a tout school where they teach you to buy points?
spread is 9 and the fukking clown wants to buy it down to 8.
once again, who the fukk is gonna pay 50% of the winning if they win and the touts pay nothing when the bet loses?
one thing though, touts love heavy favorites...Comment -

#268The show may be fake but doesn't that guy stevens(the twice convicted telemarketing scam artist with a name change) actually own a telemarketing bolier room?
I find that show highly entertaining, gotta love a guy flying a charter plane elated to have won 44 grand and split that with stevens.Comment -

#269What the hell was going on with the games they showed in the most recent episode?
The New Mexico/Air Force game was the same night as the Uconn game (even though they acted like it was the next day) and they said the final score was 28-17 when it was 45-37 (it didn't sync up with the 1H either). I know its staged, but they could at least pick games and show the right scores. He said it was "easy money" when that game was a sweat almost the entire way.Comment -

#271This has become your typical reality-soap. I usually avoid them because theyre so clearly scripted but im hooked on the shots in the sportsbooks(which seem real) and its like a bad accident, you cant look away. Lots of headshakes and facepalms lol
Most people are probably convinced that this guy is legitimately living that kind of life off of the touting business but we all know better. Pretty sure 50% commission is ridiculous.
But its good for the 'industry' and good for my wednesday nights cause I get to watch tv w my girl without having to fake interest in some stupid reality crap like 'the voice' or 'basketball/mafia wives.'
Its so obvious someone is consulting them on jargon and "sharp" sports betting concepts. Perhaps mayweather's camp. Easy to talk sports and act like a winner....Most of them are still uneasy when using industry slang though.
Hilarious how he has yet to pick an underdog.
As annoying as his psuedo-ghetto, cool white boy thing hes fronting, scrum bag has charisma is a good actor and will likely capitalize on this show one way or anotherComment -

I will admit the actor clients are somewhat believable minus that chick. The way the wall street guy told Stevens he needs to walk away after losing 30k is hilarious. The bar fight. The frugal golfer lowballing bets and replying "Perfect" after Stevens tells him to keep the profit after winning just a nickle.
And the sportsbook scenes. Might be gullible of me but the window clerk interactions seem genuine. The way the manager came out and scoffed at the notion of changing mind and buying the hook on 7 in nfl.....seemed real.Comment -

#277Don't do it
This Stevens guy is unreal
Calls 13 point wins when he was on -8 blowout wins
Talks like a fukin super epic douche
Has his dad on the show and talks about how he loves him and wants to take care of him, but proceeds to tell millions of people how he was never there for him
Charges 50% commission on wins? Who wrote these scripts
His asst. is an incredible douche also. Reminds me of almost every timeshare salesman I've ever metComment -
