The "mang" bit isn't an act.

I was friends with a vietnamese guy back in my early teens. "Hey mang"...always came out sounding like that. Lots of words sounded wrong. At McDonalds he always ordered a sundae and wanted peanuts on it but he could say it properly. Came out sounding like penis. "Lots of penis", he would say.
