    Who's tanking in the NBA?
We should keep tabs on who we think is tanking in the NBA. It might be golden information.

    Clippers?

Sports betting and handicapping forum: discuss picks, odds, and predictions for upcoming games and results on latest bets.

    Raptors?

After scoring 39 points in the third quarter to go up by 6, the Raptors managed just 4 points in the first 7 and a half minutes of the fourth. After the Jazz had taken control of the game, the Raptors started playing again and scored 10 points in the last 4 and a half minutes of the fourth. Tank city!

Play-by-play action for the Utah Jazz vs. Toronto Raptors NBA game from March 8, 2009 on ESPN.

Yes some of these teams just don't care
If it seems to good to be true it usually is!!

I have a natural instinct to exploit market ineffieciencies!!

Two Teams: Washington 22-39-2 ATS , Toronto 23-37-3 ATS thus far .................... Two teams that have in fact been a great fade all year and I believe will continue to be as the season ends !

The Raps aren't tanking yet. They may be a good fade but not because they're tanking.

Why would a team that is tanking still be in the game in the 4th quarter? You are confusing variance for tanking.

I was pretty pissed about the Raptor colapse. Bosh looks like complete shit in the 4th quarter.

Popavich Keeping Tim Duncan on the bench for almost the entire 4th quarter was strange, until Phoenix cut it to three. I'm like c'mon, why is your best player sitting on the bench when the game is still highly contested.

Probably because he is more concerned with making sure his best player, a 32 year old big man, isn't worn down when the playoffs come around.

His players are getting up in age, he needs them fresh com May and June, not in February for some game that has little meaning to the team over the course of the season.

Come on Don. Don't come in with some logic. The playoffs are not as important as covering one game during the season. Everyone knows this. Duncan should of played 48 minutes to ensure the cover.

Golden State is obviously tanking it. Don Nelson starting friction in many ways also. Telling Crawford that he better leave money on the table. Sitting players to get younger guys more time. He started all of this after the All-star break. So, you can say they tanked for about 30 games of the season. That's 36%, sickening. Clips are a constant tank Kaman has played 10 games at tops. Those are the obvious ones.

I knew someone would say something like this. In the third quarter they scored 39 points, that's over 3 points per minute. In the fourth they scored 4 points in total in the first 7 and a half minutes. That's way outside of normal variance, it's an outlier. The odds against that being normal variance are astronomical.

Why would they wait until the fourth to tank?

                                  1. It was a nationally televised game in Canada. That's like a two and half hour national commercial for the team. Think about the business, they want their fans and the whole country to think highly of them.

                                  2. They're competitive athletes. They want to know that they could have beaten the Jazz if they wanted. That's important for self esteem and morale.

                                  3. They want to keep their stats up. It doesn't matter long term if they win these games but for guys like Bosh and Marion their numbers will matter a lot when they're free agents. That's why they'll do their best for most of the game, duh!

Do you understand business? Do you understand psychology?

Your post tells me that you don't.

Most pro teams do not quit because if incentive clauses, ect

Of course some players do quit at end of year

I think LAC and Memphis quit in the NBA if I had to pick 2
