Vegas is attracting more people with no money and very little gambling

They are focusing on non gaming revenue because it isn't as scrutinized by government. Fin-Cen is crawling all over the companies with AML cases. Everything is cyclical. Slots and tables will reinvent themselves over the next 5-10 years and go back to the forefront. The drugstores are just high rent tenants for whichever casino they are located in front of.

MShot, I'm no comp-pro but I'll give my opinion on comp/discounted rooms:1) Quickest way to get comped rooms is to be a Whale. If u have more $$ than god, the house will identify this. They'll give u great offers to keep the $$ coming. If they estimate that you'll blow $1000 per day at their property, they'll sure as hell be willing to give u $200 daily in room/comps.

2) If you're not a whale, I'd try to show repeat action at 1 or 2 properties. They love repeat-business, where u show that you'll be coming back. You have to give them action and make them feel like they can make some $$ off u.The job of casino-host is largely to extend offers that HE think will be advantageous to the house.Furthermore, follow my notes on Hotel difference btw Wkend (fri/Sat) and Wkday (Sun-Thur). Matter of supply/demand. So much harder to get comped room (or even discounted room) on weekends. Starting point for comped rooms would be Sun-Thur. A lot of times that's on the fine-print on any offer they give u.

Unless you a sucker or tourist Las Vegas Blvd between Circus Circus and South Point is a largely a gambling cesspool. Still plenty of shit (including ones above that you discounted) outside that bubble and things get even better if you are willing to travel.
