As much as you (and most others) believe, that is really hard to achieve.

If you are serious about winning, and I do mean SERIOUS, one of the first things you should do is keep an Excel sheet keeping track of plays. You'd be amazed at how much the bookmakers' juice really eats up your money.

Second just as important: I do agree with the "follow a few services long term" philosophy. I've been burnt bad experimenting with too many things in the past.

Third but this goes against SBR religion so I'm sure everyone here disagrees: don't jump on bandwagons. Think long-term.
