Here's the truth.

You are just a slave to your biological body and to biology in general.

What the hell causes this inherent 'will to survive'? What is biology's ultimate motive? What is the point of trying to live as long as possible and then dying?

Thank about it, everything we are supposed do in our lives is just there to help us live longer. We are slaves to this biological imperative. Studying in school and getting a good job is just to help us find a more suitable mate, which in the end we are supposed to breed with to prolong the genetic line. Even the relationships we have with spouses and friends are just there to prolong our life (as studies show people with more contacts live longer).

I really don't think there is a mind-body connection. I believe the body is a bunch of cells on it's own, and the mind/soul is separate. It is given power to a certain extent to control the body, but ultimately, the body plays a larger role. The idea of pain/pleasure is present because of the body. Happiness/saddness is also just an interpretation of the body. The mind/soul cannot interpret any of this. Your body is doing thousands of functions right now you have not authorized, and each is just an action to help itself stay alive.

I see animals, insects etc... Everything they do is for survival. Just like humans. But in animals, it's easier to question it. Why are they acting this way, why is survival so important to them? Just to pass on their genes? What does this accomplish ultimately?

For humans, we can say that it's best to live longer because we'll experience more happy moments, but this also is not true. There is no true happiness except happiness of the mind. All the happiness you feel is just dopamine and serotonin. All the sadness is from GABA and serotonin imbalances. That's it and that's all!

The happiness you feel from winning a trophy is the same happiness you feel when you take 'feel good' pills. Same brain centers activate, cocaine activates the same centers as when you are happy about being in love. It's all the same happiness, whether from a pill or experiences. The latter is generally more accepted only because it is less dangerous, but the point is it's all the same false happiness. Just the same chemicals in your brain.

Your body is too much in control of you. The will to live is present in everyone just because of biology, as it is in animals. Thinking about the WHY, you realize it's just because your body wants you to live, not your mind/soul, and that the mind is just enclosed in this shell to be able to interact with the outside world. Your body isn't YOU.

Knowing this, you should have no fear of dying.

EDIT: Also wanted to add that this 'life' you experience isn't even your own. Your soul is unique, but everything else, your body, brain, thoughts, are all based on genetics and socialization. Even the daily experiences you have are just 'sets' which you have been socialized to follow. Even subsets such as having small conversations, or saying things at certain times. None of it is truly you, you are just a complete shell for your soul.
