I'm new too, but money line is for the team to win straight up, if you bet point spread, the team has to cover the points to win, example if the Saints are favored by -10, and you pick them they have to win by 11 or more for you to win. Hope this helps

Am also new and this way of betting is new for me as an Aussie. With spread its as sydermonkey says. Money line is straight up and the odds reflect $100. So if odds are -165 you need 165 to win 100. And if +110 then you get 110 for a 100 bet.
Think its right. If any different I am sure somebody will correct me.

Sounds like the basics have been explained here. As an added tip, check out our spread to money line conversion tool - available here: http://www.sbrforum.com/betting-tool...-ml-converter/

You can use the converter to consider the best value in choosing whether to bet the spread or the money line. Our half-point calculator is also helpful, showing exactly what every half-point is worth and why some have a lot more meaning than others: http://www.sbrforum.com/betting-tool...nt-calculator/

              Good luck!
