    Aussie Open: Roddick/Federer
Anyone thinking about taking a shot with Roddick here? I know that Federer has owned him, but Roddick seems like a new and improved player this year... I watched have seen a couple of his matches in this tournament, most recently against Mardy Fish who had been playing really well... I see Roddick at +435 on Cris and I think I might take a shot... Anyone else see any value in this play or am I out of my mind?

    Would love some feedback...

I have him at +350. Worth a small play I think simply because he beat Federer in an exhibition match before the Aussie Open, so if there's going to be a time for him to win - this would be it. All said, I think Federer wins this, but I see a small wager worth the risk on Roddick.

I agree guys... Roddick is worth a shot in this spot for a unit.

          Not worth it imo,
Roddick has been in this position before against Federer and has been schooled as always.

Adriano, I don't disagree at all with that statement, but I feel as though Roddick has honed his game in the off-season with Connors... His backhand is much improved from last year and he seems to have his swagger back! I'm takin a shot here with him... I want to stay up and watch the match, but 3:30 here on the east coast is rather late... Could be a long day @ the office tomorrow!

I agree. Federer is so far ahead of everybody else, it's ridiculous.

Anyone watching this? Federer is giving Roddick a lesson in Tennis 101.

Did Federer really lose to Nadal 4 times last year?

It looks like that way here, http://www.sportsline.com/tennis/pla...ge/219927/2006, but I'm pretty surprised.

That is true. Nadal was the only person who could even touch Federer last year. Roddick was embarrasingly bad after the first set yesterday, you could tell he was frustrated with Federer hitting every shot in his arsenal and Roddick had no answers. Sad thing is Roddick had a chance to win that 1st set and that's the only way to beat Federer, get to him early.

Once on hard court (Dubai), 3 consecutive times on clay. Nadal can't wait for the clay court season to start. He hasn't gotten to a final since Wimbledon. It's amazing how many guys thought Roddick had a chance and then Fed proves once again who's the boss.

Didn't watch. No point if you follow tennis and understood the matchup. All of Roddick's strengths are so easily neutralized by Federer's defense and ability to dissect Andy's serve.

Tennis has become boring and predictable when Federer enters a non-clay tourney in good health and shape.

It was worth watching. Federer was terrible in the first set (for him), and still found a way to prevail. From there on, it was like watching an artist.
Was there anything more obvious than Federer deliberately losing the last game Roddick served?
