#57loved the #3, look at the past charts of the #2 who scr out here as the 3/1 fav both he & 3 faced a common runner (valley of avoca) in diff races, the 7f distance was nice plus the sharp trainer prob wanted to give the jock a shot at a rare win, i'd bet if the 3 had a top jock today off odds could have been 5/1
thanks allComment -

#62I'm really interested in the First crop sires but would be a little afraid to take a chance on Curlin this early. The only Freshman I would gamble with is Big Brown .Hip 2903 is Big Brown out of Truely Ruby and I know Big Brown was a classic horse but this filly is loaded for turf with Danzig/Nureyev on the sire side and Roberto on the dam side. These look interesting to me but A.I am kinda turf biased B.I'm just going off sires and damsire and great damsire etc....I don't have a book with all the winning relatives and other must have information.I just think he may have been the most talented colt in a very long time and his bloodlines are really good, especially for turf.Yeah the foot issues could be a concern but like I said I would have turf racing in mind and maybe that makes it easier on the hoof. There are definitely safer bets to go with for a smaller operation and that would probably be a smarter move.Although Big Brown may offer the biggest reward for taking a risk.
Big Brown had the session topper at 140k and another for 117k in book 5.The one I picked must have had conformation issues because it only went for 15k but it might just be a steal since 2 of the following Big Brown's went for 140 and 117k.There were only a few that went for over 100k and BB had 2 of them.Comment -

Wanted to revisit this at years end .Although Curlin is doing pretty good himself ,Big Brown firsters are 8 for 25 or 32%. Which is pretty incredible being the best win early sires fall in between 15-20%.Comment
