    what's this pick 6 thing?
    I know it's horse racing...

I was looking at books on amazon.com about it. Is the max payout $400k for 1 winner or total prize pool?? How much to wager to win that much? Not really sure how the pick 6 works. I could do a research but I'd like to talk about it here. Is the pick 6 available to play from the sportsbooks you all use or you'd have to be in the physical racetracks to bet? Is this once a year? Like the Derby? or daily?

never play pk6 at sports book they have to many caps and if you hit a huge payoff you would never get the total amount from a book. most pk6 are $2 wagers. The pick 6 is available at most tracks everyday. You can wager with an adw like twinspires or xpressbet. Payout is pool divided by winning tickets. If you had a single winning ticket on a carryover day it could be huge like yesterday at Hollywood park they had a single winner that paid 425,343.40 if you wagered that in a book you would never see most of it. I like the new .50 pk5 wager that has hit most tracks now with the low takeout makes it a good wager if you play the pks.

Make sure you read the payout rules in sportsbooks, most books have a cap or a number of different caps depending on the racetrack. If you are going to play pick 6's you need to make sure you can win the whole thing!

pick 6's are extremely hard to hit. i usually stick with pick 4's 3's but they can be really fun if you make it a ways in. Most tickets are going cost you quite a bit and make sure you know what pools are before you bet. For instance phil park has a pick 6 that is 2 dollar that usually never has a high payout so it makes no sense to put in a 300 dollar ticket for it. Some places like Hollywood can have big carryovers. With most pick 6's i find a friend or 2 to go in together so you can afford larger tickets. Your question on how it works is you pick your winners from each race. How do you get the price for your ticket? you multiply each race. so for instance if you have 1.2.3/.2/1.2/3/123/123
        here you picked 6 races
you would take 3*1*2*1*3*3 for a total of 54 dollars on a 1 dollar ticket or 108 dollars on a 2 dollar ticket. You just multiply the amount of each horses you picked by the next race and so on. Finding single horses in races are crucial to keeping your ticket down. In the case above if you were to hand 1 horse in the second leg you would increase your ticket 54 dollars one 1 dollar or 108 dollars on 2 dollar
        so it would look like
        123/12/12/3/123/123
this ticket by adding 1 horse in second leg makes your ticket double so you can see the importance of single on a pick 6
i hope i didnt confuse you more
