    Your Kentucky Derby Winner
No value in giving out big brown 2/1 and I dont think Colonel John can outkick Pyro

    Your winner is Pyro

I have been watching Pyro since he was 2, in the Breeders and well before that. He has always finished closing on War Pass and he trained with Curlin. And the War Pass races werent a 1 1/4. The extra distance should be the key as long as the pace isnt overly fast. Even then he'll still pull it out. After reviewings Pyro's workout at Churchill yesterday he is ready to run and the horse wants it. He was being held all the way but you could see he wanted to charge.

Two Tri's I will be playing

    Pyro, Colonel John, Big Brown
    Pyro, Big Brown, Colonel John

He doesnt look like a thing like Jesus but he talks like a gentlemen.

Long shot: Eight Belles 125/1 @ Hilton

God Bless you.. In a 20 horse field and with him being a closer you are going to need a lot of racing luck.

Every damn year I play the best closer in the field at the derby and every single year they lose. I would probably take Pyro in the Belmont but not in the Derby.

Hi guys. Long time no talk to. Here is what I'm thinkin'. I'll wait for the draw today to narrow it down but here's my thoughts:

        1) Monba.....Pletcher is flyin' beneath the radar this year. I thought the Blue Grass win was pretty damn impressive.

        2) Court Vision.....Will probably need somewhat of an outside post so he can run late especially in a crowded field. Has shown he can run wide.

        3) Z Fortune.....A bit of a wild card. Goes without saying but post position for him will be critical.

        4) Big Brown.....Horse reminds me of Curlin. I don't think he's gonna win the Kentucky Derby but I am really hoping that he bombs a bit. If odds are high in Preakness, it will be hammer time.

        5) Colonel John.....I'm always leary of Santa Anita home track horses going to Churchill but, in a relatively weak Stake horse field, he seems to be fairly consistent. I'll probably tie him in an exotic bet or two.

        6) Denis of Cork.....I really love this horse but Bo-rail is on him. He will really be dependent upon post position, perhaps even more than the others listed here.

I've been on the Pyro bandwagon since the BC Juv last year as well. I watched the Derby breezes/gallops and I'll tell you this: Col John, Big Brown, and Eight Belles are the most physically impressive. Z Fortune is also a nice looking colt.

The Pletcher duo I don't really feel at all. Both synthetic specialists.

Court Vision will be my key as he has some of the best breeding for the Derby and looks to be sitting on a big race. Probably not first but...we'll see.

Going to ditch Denis of Cork and Court Vision. I can't trust Borel on the outside with Denis of Cork. Just too risky.

Going to ditch Court Vision as well. I'm pretty shocked by that post position. However, I am an internet hack and Bill Mott is Bill Mott so maybe I should give Mr. Mott the benefit of the doubt.

Going to tri-box Z Fortune, Big Brown, Colonel John and Monba. We'll see how that pans out. Good luck to everyone. I'm still not sure who my big win ticket will be on. I still got some studying to do.

dodif, good luck to you as well. This race has a huge potential for a big, big payout in my opinion. We shall see.

I've decided to go $25 WPS on Monba ($75 total). The last line I saw last night was 30:1 which is just outstanding. I can't lay off those kind of odds. When he finishes last today, I'll be thinking to myself, "that Colonel John was probably the right play". I seem to think that the #10 may be the play. His money is holding steady. I'm just not sure about the Santa Anita home track. That just scares the livin' daylights out of me.

Anyway, officially, here is what I'm playing:

                  $25 WPS #14 ($75 total)
                  $1 Tribox 6-10-14-20 ($24 total)

I'll be watching the totes as they come in. Will probably make some place and show bets depending upon how the money comes in. Good luck to all.

Oh, picantel and kdmfox.....where are yours? I know fox was awesome last year in the Stakes races and I always respect picantel's thoughts. Will check in sparingly to see what you guys like.
