              What I am saying is if a jockey keeps coming in the money payoff in every race he rides, and he is a favorite, that means the betting public is putting a lot of money on that comb.....if it connects all the time, it creates a negative payout pool where the track has to fork out the money and hope they can recoup in another race.

              The reverse happens when a big favorite does not finish at least third. This generates a bigger that normal show payoff..hence the saying "bridge jumpers" because the favoriote did not hit the board.

              A lot of times you will see at the harness races a full field of 7 or 8 or 9 horses with NO SHOW betting. That is because the track feels a horse in the race has a very good record of coming in first or at least second. If they allowed show betting, it would create a negative pool which harness tracks cannot afford.
