2 big problems with betting to show:

1. Whichever horses come in the top 3 along with your horse affects your payoff.
2. Track Breakage along with the track take makes the bet unprofitable.

However, there are certain situations when show betting can be extremely profitable and those situations are when betting against a bridge jumper and when the track you're betting at has "net pool pricing".

i only bet on horses to show when there is a largely favoried horse 2-5 or so and i take another horse and hope that one doesnt get int the top 3.

nope - don't think I've ever had a "show" bet on a US race.

The payoff is simply not worth the risk.People will tend to bet more . Similar to playing a certain amount per game but doubling the play if a team is -200.Just does not make sense.
