'Gorgeous George' - Euthanized
The mercurial but brilliant European miler, George Washington, was euthanized tonite after breaking down during the BC Classic.
"On-course veterinarian and equine joint expert Dr Wayne McIlwraith said George Washington suffered an open fracture of both sesamoid bones".
Dr McIlwraith added: "The decision was made very quickly. The injury was bad and Aidan O'Brien made the request for euthanisation. He was with the horse." [Sporting Life]

They were fools running that horse in the Classic, when he runs all the time on turf. They tried last year at Chuchill and he run awful. The turf field was weak, so he should have run there.Comment
