When the track first opened up, it was heavily favoring closers. Is that still the case?

Love the Dubai World Cup card every year! The only day at the track here where the workers show up all grumpy at 9am having to sit at the betting windows.

They did coffee and pastry last year, if I remember right - that's what reminded me of that.

Yep - Suffolk Downs it is. One of the few days of the whole year they have any kind of promotion. And even without any live racing going on!

I may take this opportunity to do the 14-hour marathon; start with Dubai at 9:30am and stick around until they close at 11:30pm.... Always wanted to do it but never have stayed more than 7 or 8 hours at the track/OTB/racebook before. The only chance to do a really long 12+ hour stretch it is on Dubai World Cup day, since they open so early.
Anyone ever done that before? What's the longest stretch you've spent at a simulcast place?

I've done similar stretches a couple of times, 13th. Longest I can remember was at Lincoln Park in Rhode Island on a Belmont Stakes Day card. Action started at like 11am and I stayed all afternoon and evening up until a Mike Tyson-Lennox Lewis PPV fight was going to be shown on the TV's there. I think it was the time War Emblem was going for the Triple Crown and the place was packed all day and night.

I bet very few races so I'm not too worried about that; I'd be more concerned about it getting boring or getting tired, or just wanting to go home after sitting in a chair all day.

It's always exciting to watch Presious Passion run -- he opens up that huge lead and then the rest of the race is spent wondering if anyone can make up the distance by the time they get to the wire. It's not so much that he always goes to the front, it's the fact that he'll open up a 10-12 length lead early on in such long distance races and still manage to hang on.
That race at Monmouth last year was unbelievable. opened up 20 lengths, went 1:09 and change for the 3/4's and still broke the record for 11 furlongs.

Yeah, I had Presious Passion at Monmouth. I was so worried that huge lead would just evaporate.
i just might have to make a trek to Suffolk to make a bet on PP and Gloreo De Campeo this weekend. Just need to see if i can wake up early enough

Yeah, waking up early on a Saturday can be tough, gt. I'll have to grab some early mass transit to get there on time.

Yeah, gt - they have a shuttle that runs from the T-stop to the track's door. It's not that far of a walk though - less than 15 minutes really. I've never taken the shuttle ever.
Driving there only takes me 30 minutes since the new tunnel's been finished. But it's up to about $10 in tolls by the time I'm done.

Staying until Los Alamitos starts is some real dedication, brock! This is definitely a March Madness of horses all rolled into one day.

Yeah at least there's no parking or admission charge now with no live racing.
