Race 2 is a TOUGH race. Debating or 7,8 and 10. 7 and 10 have never raced a route distance. GOOD LUCK! I'll jump on the 10 counting on those E1,E2 numbers to pull him through to the FINISH!

Race 3 - taking a chance on Digital Dream at 8/1.
10 does have good pace figures and pedigree suggests he'll go further..think they'll be a little value with him

I was reading this horse last year use to use cheekpieces. Interesting fact - but I am sure you know about this info, maybe others don't. Cheekpieces. Cheekpieces again very similar to blinkers - used for concentration purposes. The big difference here is that they're less restrictive than blinkers. They can also be used to help a horse settle before a race and are significantly faster to put on and off than blinkers.

I don't know (look)for anything beyond blinkers..just look at the pp's and sometimes dig for a little pedigree info..I agree the races last year were good but the trainer and recent bad dirt efforts got you the price imo..all judgemental how different people weigh things

preakness
R13 #6 rombauer (12-1)
his figures improved every race since his debut other than a 2 pt regression on the poly 2 back..he won that race so don't take that too seriously
(going by brisnet figures)
this includes winning his debut around 2 turns on the turf in july..to me that's very impressive for any horse let alone a 2yo that early on
first attempt on the dirt was his 3rd career start in a grade 1 going two turns..2nd by < length going wide around both turns ..impressive
bc juvenile finished 5th of 14 but had to break from the 13 post..still improved his figure
just gets up to win the el camino real in his 3yo debut..aided by a lightning quick pace..to me the fact it was on an artificial surface makes it just a push type race..nothing added or taken away for what he did
sits behind an extremely slow pace in the bluegrass and finishes a decent 3rd ..again his figure moves forward nicely
likely to get a much more lively pace to run at here..trainer is very undervalued based on roi's..maintaining or moving forward again figure wise puts him right up there with the best in here
** will be a fresh horse off a 7 week layoff
all I'm picking on today's card is the biggie..they are solid races but very competitive and felt no edge to be had

thanks and appreciate the good words guys..no exacta just simple 10WP..I only play on big race days as most of you know..other times just picking
exacta payed just about what it should have..triple about 50% more and super more than double what it should have..nothing unusual about that for a tc race
I use the formula in steve crist's book "exotic betting"..talked about it a lot in my old thread

thanks str.. looks like another 5/16th wouldn't bother him.. nice touch after mccarthy was interviewed todd gave him a pat on the back.. some of his assistants have become really good trainers which was true of his mentor also
