Did a filly ever win the Kentucky the derby? If so how many and who were they?

                            part b of this question

who’s my favorite filly that literally died on the track running 2nd vs the boys?

do me a favor and never forget this filly

it was right after Barbaro too

                            but Larry Jones was deveststed

as was I was I, gave it all until breaking everything vs big brown

on the ragozin sheets going back to secretariat the best figure in the derby and the two races leading up to the derby (avg) is big brown by a lot.. then monarchs and smarty jones figures are next and almost mirror images... there is a large drop-off to 4th and that's spend a buck

I used to live by the rags ,

                                  now I like Tomlinson numbers

but I remember having pages and Pages of rags sheets

and guys having no clue what im talking about

                                  lots use the throughgraph numbers

but the Tommy numbers for us maiden players ring out

                                  It’s all getting too expensive

I've used the sheets a lot over the years but obviously a very expensive product.. more like a novelty for me but I enjoy on occasion trying to approach things from a different perspective

Tomlinson I used to buy his booklets which he updated about annually.. guess I'm talking 20-25 years ago.. think he got about $50 for it back then and of course now it's right in the form.. more valuable info then before the masses had it

Yeah , it’s a big part of needing the form

the program we can make due with

but need all the info fir best results

Can’t even see purchase prices on the program

what brisnet puts into their mud and turf numbers is impressive.. couldn't tell you off the top but remember a lot of relevant variables included .. very different from the Tomlinson numbers

what you did back in the day when you had the tomlinson numbers was the sires number plus half of the dam sires number to come up with a rating.. makes sense to weigh the dam sire like that

polish numbers (long gone) had the highest rating in the book if I remember correctly.. maybe 1 or 2 others shared it

That makes a lot of sense

I peep at the Mud numbers

and have been instilled to play ORB’s in mud

one bravo rode today showed up for a check at a price

but for me every situation different

for the most part dirt horses perform the same on both surfaces

unless a closer , as the kick back many don’t take too

                                                you know all this

And of course there are a small % that hate it

but in general front running dirt horses don’t care

there isn’t an even playing field , in that regard

more confident in the connections confidence

I think a much bigger surface concern is yielding / Firm

                                                on the lawn

                                                cheers my man

                                                lol do you ever sleep?

It's a background thing for me surface, mud and distance ratings.. one of the most impressive things about the brisnet ratings is they don't just go by percentage.. they factor in class also
.. you can be an 18% mud sire but do it against lower level competition so your progeny's figures are lower...but if for example curlin might also hit for 18% but his offspring going to run much higher numbers than the $10k sires.. factored into the numbers for distance and turf also.. other things in there also I believe having to do with success of the dam's offspring.. it's explained somewhere but that's the jist of it

had one going in the last at charlestown why I'm on here a little later than usual.. love the game like you and spend entirely too much time on it lol
