Kona's Race of the Day Oaklawn 8 Temperence Hill S.
Today's Feature race of the day is @ Oaklawn race 8 the Temperence Hill S.
Interesting race going the not so common distance of 1 1/2 miles on the Oaklawn Dirt(No Turf Course at Oaklawn)

At first look it may not appear to have much pace BUT as we know when horses stretch out they show more speed. This field is loaded with stretch out horses trying the longer distance and with aggressive California Jocks like Garcia #6 and Talamo #7 on close up type contenders plus some longer prices like the 2, 4 ,9 this race could fall apart late.

The proven distance & class horse and my top pick is #10 Campaign who shipped in for the Razorback against much tougher and finished a nice closing 5th to a very very nice winner going wire to wire with plenty left after getting an easy lead. Top trainer Sadler most likely had this race pegged and look for him to drop back and start motoring home around the far turn. Now there are a few other deep closers so hopefully Bejarano gets a clean trip and doesn't have momentum stopped and have to start back up as these stayer types really dont have that big turn of foot. Good luck to all!

        #2 croatian (15-1)

3rd off the layoff.. last race 21 days ago and 21 days also to the race before that.. ran similar race as last on 10/25 and also came back in 21 days and just missed by a neck.. compromised by slow pace in last race (pace figs).. has hit figures good enough to win this race 3 and 4 starts back including at 1 3/16 ths at churchill.. extreme distance and off track pedigree and should be sloppy today.. trainer does very well in non graded stakes races

ran a nice closing second. the race did fall apart like I thought but the other deep closer got the better trip and first run.
