    Harness Racing books
I'm interested in analyzing harness racing. Any recommendations for a good book to start with. By "book", I mean something you read, not somewhere you bet.

Good thread. There really is not much out there on harness racing and I'd like to see what books anyone has read lately. Dave Brower who handicaps races at the Big M wrote one recently but it has not sounded too good.

      Good afternoon Bsims,

Here's a link/site that should have what you're looking for,

They have books their on capping races, "story books", etc. If you don't see what you're looking for there, maybe 'fine tune' your question. Good luck with the Standards.

There are several specialist bookshops in Australia that carry Australian, US and general harness acing books. I suggest you use google to find them and just phone them up!

The first book I bought was "Success at the Harness Races" by Barry Meadow. It was written in 1967 and was kind of an introductory book. In spite of its age, it was a halfway decent introduction. I can't say it provided me much insight into what I'm trying to do, other than to indicate it's probably going to be harder than I hoped (not unexpected).

I also bought a book "PC Tools for the Thoroughbred Handicapper" by Bob Pitlak. It's more of a companion to his web site and tools. Even though it's about thoroughbreds, obviously there is a lot of similarity between the two types of racing. It actually has stimulated more ideas for me than the first book.

I do have a book on order called Harness Overlays. I'm looking forward to it because it most likely is to provide insight into my current project.

I have mixed reviews about Dave Brower's new book on Harness Racing. I'll probably get it somewhere down the line.
