First summer of being into horse racing, just wondering what to watch for in Fall/Win
So I only started following the sport in June from a visit to my local track (Assiniboia) Have been betting there while simply watching the graded stakes races on weekends. Been also watching alot of Del Mar and Saratoga because of a handicapping contest.

I was just wondering where the racing goes come Fall and Winter? What the biggest meets or races to watch for in those months?

still decent racing up to and including breeders cup in early nov. belmont fall meet which will now have a 15% takeout .50 pik 5 for those of you who like horizontal wagering. churchill not what it was but still halfway decent. of course warm weather santa anita kicks in after the dreadful and avoidable fairplex meet.(bull ring racing) small track with tight turns. gulfstream in winter ok when the good outfits ship down there. until then avoid like the plague. tampa bay also has been on an upward spiral in recent years unlike most tracks. most other offer a steady diet of claimers (hawthorne, fair grounds, oaklawn, playable with big fields. avoid at all times laurel, parx, suffolk(ugh),ohio tracks, calder, finger lakes, the 5 and 6 horse fields at golden gate. woodbine always playable until the ft erie horses start showing up in late november. be careful of the night time tracks delta, mountaineer, penn natl, charlestown (another ugh) all very cheap claimer tracks(some with good purses due to slots, but....)

You say avoid them, is that because of quality of horses or size of field?
