Is this hockey manslaughter? (Warning: Kinda graphic)

To me, it looks like the player deliberately tried to cut him with his skate.

I saw McSorely smash Brashear over the head with his stick.

I saw Paul Kariya take a crosscheck to the neck.

and many more of course ...

I have never seen a player ever do that before.

    player Adam Johnson

NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — American hockey player Adam Johnson, who appeared in 13 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019 and 2020, has died after his neck was cut by a skate blade during a game in England on Saturday, his team said. He was 29

    Heard about it.

I could see a lawyer bringing charges, if they can deem that Intent was there. Apparently, the player has some history of aggression.

watching the video it seems clear that he launched his skate at his hear area with the intension of cutting him. He should go to prison.

I always thought Bertuzzi got off light for the Moore incident. He paralyzed Moore:

Out-of-court settlement. So, it's fair to say that Bertuzzi paid 6-figures to Moore.

You go down a rabbit-hole on injuries in contact-sports:

*A lot more could be said here.

IMHO, it's your responsibility to show restraint.

Ya, its tough being a Canuck fan and seeing what he did even though Moore was a dirty player. Not condoning his actions but if Moore didn't cheap shot Naslund giving him a severe concussion causing him to miss a few games, he's would have had that happen to him.

    I didn't know that about the cheap-shot.

FYI: I should have said 7-figures, not 6-figures. Any settlement had to include:
    *Loss of future earnings, plus
    *Pain and suffering.

I'm sure Bertuzzi made a significant amount of salary AFTER that incident and AFTER he sat out the suspension.

I have a soft spot for Bert. I have on occasion enjoyed a few cold wobbly pops with him at the Cecil on Granville Street in Vancouver.

Hey hey hey, Lomas Brown the former Lion admitted to purposely missing blocks and letting defensive players in to hopefully knock Scott Mitchell out of the game and season. Apparently, he did not like Scott Mitchell. They did reward Lomas with plenty of local T.V. jobs and commenting on the Lions post playing career, etc. Not sure if he also was rewarded with national spotlight T.V. too can't remember.

Do nasty evil stuff - be rewarded for it. What a great guy Lomas must be! I'm sure if Mitchell develops CTE from those hits he can thank Lomas for some of it.

Dwight, very interesting. There's a legal element here.

What about a Safety laying out a WR coming across the middle? Think Tatum's hit on Stingley. Is that beyond the threshold of reasonable aggression?

The Malarchuk incident has been referenced. I believe he had medical knowledge. Plugging his own artery surely saved his own life.

Chuck, I know the hit you are referring to but it looks to me as if he purposely lifted his leg in a kind of karate motion and used the sharp blade to injure him. Maybe a better video would change my mind.

Another black on white crime if I am correct? This guy deserves execution if found guilty. There is no place on the ice for using skate blades as a deadly weapon with malice.

Hockey skates are razor sharp and pucks come flying also. Wear a clear face mask and neck protector and problem solved.

Slamming the back of your head on the hard ice could kill you also if your helmet comes flying off in a big hit.

    That's hockey. Accidents happen.

He's been arrested on "suspicion of manslaughter" but has not actually been charged yet. Could be a tough case.
