    2007/08 NHL selection$$$$$
I will have one thread for NHL and just add to this all year long. I am playing in a head to head contest with another gambler, all plays will be between 1-5 units and I must make at least 100 plays for the season. I am a below average NHL capper, if my opinion conflicts with anyone else I would certainly go with him. In fact I would strongly consider fading most my plays if this year goes like most. Will post tomorrows plays very shortly, good luck men!!

Should we be fading you right about now Pat, are you on the verge of turning the corner soon?

I'm still waiting to turn the corner 10 years later, LOL. I'm not trying to be cute, I really don't have a feel for pucks at all. Fishhead and I used to play correlated parlays (I know, sore subject these days) that he turned me on to and won consistantly for the last 3 or 4 years before OT, but I never could cap this game and win. I'm a southern boy, I just got no touch for it. So yes, I would recommend fading or staying away, NEVER follow a puck play of mine unless I stumble on the same side you happen to like. Never!

The only game on your card that i also have is the Atl/ TB 6 OVER.
U got it at a very generous price (+107). This line actually moved 25 points the other way , towards over. A good 1st period (3 goals) lets hope this continues for us. I was debating about that Puck line TB -1.5, but ended up laying off of it. Went instead with another Home team at -1.5.
Good Luck on your Minny, another game I liked but took off

I notice the plays you mention always win, both Minny and Tampa over, hope you are posting plays here? Anyway good job sir, hope the Detroit OVER makes it home too.

Detroit was a nice Over on saturday but I "chanced" or should I say "gambled" on SJ over. Need to do less of that, makes for a better "+" day.

Hi Patrick. I have a play in hockey that makes a lot of sense and especially if you understand the sport. I really like Carolina -160 at home against Vancouver. These teams are in different conferences and only play against each other once a year. Vancouver has defeated Carolina the last 8 times that they have met. Last time Carolina defeated Vancouver at home was 1998. Carolina is much improved team so far. Carolina is coming off an overtime loss at Philadelphia on Saturday night. Carolina had Sunday off while Vancouver played last night at Columbus and won 4-2. Vancouver so far this season is 3-0 on the road and is really due for a loss. Carolina should be fresh from a day off and will try to put an end to their losing streak against the canucks. The scheduling really favors Carolina in this game. Winning back to back nights is probably one of the hardest things to do. In hockey the home team has an advantage. They will have an extra day off to get ready for the away team who has played the night prior. You may want check hockey stats and see how teams do on the 2nd night of back to back games and especially if they win the first road game.

It paid off to go with my hunch even though i was bit scared because of what others on this site were saying. They said to lay on Vancouver +135. I do have a couple moves that I really like for Tuesday.
Toronto -170 at home against Atlanta. I know that you have to lay some wood on this play as I did last night with Carolina. Toronto is coming off a home loss against Chicago on saturday night. Toronto is a very good offensive team but is also a poor defensive team. Toronto scored 8 goals in its first game of the year. Atlanta does not score many goals and is considered a poor offensive team. For the season, Atlanta has scored only 18 goals in 8 games. In two games, Atlanta scored 5 times and the other 6 games they scored 10 goals combined. Atlanta scored 5 goals in its only victory last week but also scored 5 in a loss. Besides these two games, Atlanta's offense is the worst in hockey. If you consider Atlanta's offense to be dismal, their defense is absolutely the worst in hockey. In eight game, Atlanta has allowed 36 goals which comes out to an average of 4.5 goals allowed per game. In every game, including their victory, Atlanta has given up least 3 goals in every game this year. I expect a lot of scoring, due to poor defenese, but I do expect Toronto to score more goals due to Atlanta's poor offense.

Anaheim -100. Anahiem is 0-4-1 on the road this year. Most recent loss was at Dallas (3-1) on Saturday. So far, this season every NHL team plays Anaheim tough because they are the Stanley CUp Champions. They are playing at St Louis which is also coming off a home loss. Anaheim is still considered one of the better hockey teams. They will break this 0-4-1 steak. In their last 7 games against St Louis, Anaheim is 6-1.

Colorado -140. This is my best play. Colorado is also winless on the road (0-3) and most recent loss was at Minnesota (3-2) on Sunday. Colorado should win this easily as it has dominated this series in Edmonton (7-2-1 in its last 10 games at Edomonton). Edomonton is not a good offensive team as it has 1 goal on 36 power plays and that is the worst in hockey. In 8 games, Edmonton has only scored 18 goals for avearge of 2.25 goals. Edomonton's goalie, Roloson, is 2-4 in his last starts against Colorado, is allowing an average of 5.33 goals. Colorado should have a breakout game on the road which has not happened so far this season. Last year Colorado won 22 games on the road and that was one of the better road records. This is also a sort of a homecoming for Ryan Smyth who played for 12 seasons with Edmonton. Being a winless team on the road, Colorado gets a break by playing at Edmonton. This is ideal for Colorado to break the losing streak on the road. I also would consider playing Colorado
                                          -1.5 goals which is +200.

Frankly I don't know enough to critique any opinions on this sport. Maybe JAH and others with more experience will weigh in. I did have Anaheim with you already, didn't have the other side of any of your picks, added Colorado since you like it so much. We'll see what happens. One thing I eventually want to get away from is laying too much chalk. I been doing it in this sport and I know better, I think that's something that can get dangerous if you don't pick your spots better. I was burned laying some ridiculous wood this season, I should know better than that. Anyway I am learning this sport too, maybe we can help each other pick up the finer points of the game this season. Good luck.

Edomonton's goalie, Roloson, is 2-4 in his last 6 starts against Colorado, is allowing an average of 5.33 goals.
